Interdiction is a sordid affair.
One launcher One probe The ability to warp scramble anything within 20km and nothing that can counter it.
So what happens is that 5 or so lazy players get together. One fits for interdiction. 2 are tacklers. 2 are damage mongers. They wait for a few hours. They destroy a couple of ships.
Once every week or so their gate camp gets ganked. Mostly they all get away. If they dont then they just buy more isk and they start camping again.
Okay so there is one counter to interdiction spheres - The ability to haul ass past it's boundaries asap using a microwarp drive. Not that you stand a chance of getting away since you wont be faster than the two tacklers who will both fit -2 warp strength mods. So even if you can make it past the sphere you will still get pawned. Yesterday my microwarp drive refused to activate for 20 seconds while I was being interdiction ganked. How? Did somebody in the gang fit a deadspace projector? Where do I buy one?!
There is jsut something totally messed up about this thing called interdiction. I mean what the hell is with this magic warp scrambling that is somehow different than normal warp scrambling in that it cannot be countered. And then of course again... Even normal warp scrambling is stacked in favor of campers. My little itty bitty interceptor can fit a warp scrambler at no penalty and scramble your ship at 5000m+ for -2 while you have to fit two warp core stabilizers at a huge velocity penalty just to counter that. Oh yeah and if somebody in my gank has an interdictor you will first have to travel 20 km to get the priviledge of useing them. A little probe the size of one of your ship's window wipers is more powerful than your whole ship. If you are not traveling in a fleet you will die.
You might have a cloaking device fitted, but the scramblers can target you in less than a second. So all in all the best case scenario is that you have one second to use your skill to give yourself a chance at getting the hell away, but don't forget that your typical cloaking device will make you extremely slow and the enemy only has to get something/anything within 5km of you and you will uncloak. You can fit smart bombs, but they wont help you since the blast radius will not touch anything. All this making your options at skillfull evasion useless. You can stand and fight. You don't have enough time to even take out one of the tacklers, but you can try. And then you will die. Interdiction is the noob's answer to not having proper tackling skills.
Why is offence in Eve becoming progressively more passive as time goes by? It's like... drop a probe and shoot at the moment. You don't even need good targeting skills. You have way enough time to target anything that comes by.
Suggestions: -Take away the warp core stab velocity penalty. You should be allowed a chance at actually hauling ass far enough. -Fix whatever issue caused my microwarp drive to malfunction for 20 seconds yesterday. -Unmagic the interdiction sphere's scrambling. Bring back warp core stabilizers! Even if you do then the interdiction sphere at -1 normal scrabling will still be a huge help to gate camping fleets. I mean... stop being *******s why dont you. It has 20km range ffs!
If CCP want's a game where people fight they should stop giving an advantage to people who don't want to fight AKA gate campers. There's currently just no skill involved in it. Oh yeah and not to mention that at the moment my game crashes every single time one of my ships gets destroyed. So I have no such thing as a pod. When a ship of mine gets destroyed I am kicked out of the game and I wake up in station. Not even a chance to try to get my pod away.

Interdictors suck I'll have you know. Grow some friends and fight them or admit they play better than you.

Actually they don't, in the right hands it's a killing machine
But, regarding "bubbles", i've escaped one in a rookie ship, it's not "unbeatable".

I too escaped one in a rookie ship today. The idiot tackler bumped the thing out of the interdiction sphere, and let me warp out in my pod. A free rookie ship for a 300,000 sp clone and a head full of implants? I'll take that.
At any rate, interdiction spheres aren't over powered. Besides, you can pop them with smartbombs or a Doomsday.

Wow. Just wow. You need to learn how to play the game, Sq7, because the things you say make you sound brain dead. --

I actually meant; flew in a camp with a rookie ship, flew away in a rookie ship

Maybe he means the opportunity cost of not being able to fit OMGWTFibers.

Shucks you are right. I had the penalties messed up here. In any case it is just as valid. You need them to overcome a penalty and you are further penalised. Not to mention that they simply can't counter the interdiction sphere penalty.
Come on... Ask anybody out there. Does interdiction make gate camping childplay? Yes it does... yes it does.

No it doesn't. Bubbles are a tool, just like EWar or DPS.

Bubbles, are a *****, but not unbeatable. I see nano ships do it all the time. Anything that's not nano'd is screwed, yeah. But the balance to bubbles is that it's only in 0.0...
0.0 is supposed to be omgwtf dangerous, and bubbles are just part of that. Do you have any idea how impossible it would be to kill some ships w/o them? IE transports, interceptors(still hard to kill), anything with a few stabs and decent align time would be uncatchable. And in 0.0, things are supposed to die. No bubbles, or nerfed bubbles...People would start warp stabbing titans ffs. If you can't take the heat, gtfo 0.0.
And on the penalties for warp stabs...They aren't meant to be equipped on ships that are going to a fight. They're for ships that are trying to avoid one.....

Agreed it should be dangerous. But there is just no counter. Fitting stabs means you are depriving yourself of offensive and defensive ability. Especially if you are an armor tanker who needs those low slots badly. Therein lies the balance for me. But there still is no counter. When I'm trying to move my ratting battleship from gurista space to some quiter neck of the woods then I am definitely not looking for a fight. Only thing is... Fleets with Interdictor(s) force the issue. Like you said... Anything that is not nano'd is screwed. What good is a nano'd battleship.?
Hell it's not like I can't afford to buy a battleship or two every now and again, but I think travelling is an important part of the game. I think gatecamping is a perfectly legit career. It is terribly easy though. The odds are way stacked in favor of a successful gate gank.
And it is totally possible to engage and destroy outside an interdiction sphere. I understand people got along just fine before it.
Anyway since this is all just rhetoric. I believe interdictor spheres are here to stay. Let's talk about ways to beat them before this thread turns to flame central.

There is one other counter - avoid 0.0 space. Which is pretty sad: disrupt fields are so overpowered that players are forced to avoid low sec completely, leaving more than half of all explorable space in the game to pirates, veteran players, and the "lucky ones".
Which means non-pirates are paying the full monthly cost but only have access to half of the game, while pirates leech off of their in-game assets as best they can. Some might say that they are stealing "ISK". But because of the monthly cost of the game, ISK is the same as real currency because it takes time and money to earn it, although 1 dollar or euro are worth much more than 1 ISK.
But then again it is the player's choice to venture into low sec or not, but if not, that player will never be able to explore the most exciting and profitable areas in the game.
