The patch notes detail this- does this mean that if you are out of range to use "look at", and you do the right-click-hold, zoom-in trick, you won't see the turret models on the ship? I know I'm not the only pilot that used this when at long range in a small ship or in a covops/recon that used this to gauge what a target was packing.
Does this mean you can no longer physically inspect a ship by zooming in on it? When a ship begins to initiate warp, "look at" doesn't function- does this mean that a ship's weapons are now physically masked unless it is A) not warping and B) in targeting range?
Just curious to know the answer- I'm unable to play for another half dozen hours or so. :) ----- CEO, Astrum Contract Services Group ACSG Open For Recruitment (AU/AsiaPac/Late Night PST)

Pretty sure this means turret models don't show up unless you are looking at the ship. This is only if you have turret effects turned off IIRC. _____________ Hai. |

if turret effects off you'll now NEVER se turrets, even with look at.
SO basicly yes we can't look at thier weapons anymore, which is an ok trade off for the boost in fps. imo.

No good, a possibility to see the turrets IF we want to would be nice. "Look at" does not work when out of range, and it does not work when I or the other ship are aligning for warp. A setting "always show turrets" would be fine, or an always accessible "look at".

Thing is not many use the look at or even consider checking the other ships to see what they have fitted. On the other hand all of eve benefits from more FPS.

Falcon nailed it - this is only with turret effects off, you can still see them if you have turret effects on. Don't worry :)

That "trick" might even have been an exploit---you were using a difference between Classic and Premium clients for your advantage.

No, the old client, which became the Classic client, has never had this behaviour. Only the Premium client had this behaviour, until Quantum Rise 1.0.3 when we replicated the old/Classic code into Premium.

Well what I meant, even long before classic/premium client split it was possible to zoom close to view other ships fitted weapons, by using that right-click-hold, zoom-in trick.

No, I tried it in space with a thorax, a thrasher and a reaper:
* I have all effects ON except "camera shake" * I set the other ship "as parent" and zoom in - no turrets * I "look at" the other ship - and see turrets
I think with turret effects off one would not see turrets at all, even when looking at other ships (didn't try this)

One reason to have an option for turrets being always shown would be for making movies and such in game. Maybe have them always shown when you use the advanced camera options?
