As of today the prices for ferrogel have increased 50%. This will no doubt soon trickle down to our T2 ships and mods. I am a hardcore pvper with a little on the side market trading (this char) and I must say I am a bit nervous about the upcoming market changes as I am sure everyone else is. People are already upset about the recent changes to the game in QR thus far, if the price to buy and fit out a decent ship will triple pvp will be in ruins. I mean, T2 is basically standard fitting. Targets will be ridiculously hard to come by. How will CCP compensate for this? If what people are saying is true this game will lose many subscribers. I'm not saying I would rage quit but the part of the game that is fun to me would be gone. Why would I stick around and play it anymore? What is CCP planning to do about this? They weren't very strategic in the timing of bringing this to an end, that's for sure. I'm just a concerned pvper looking for some answers. I can almost see the forum trolls approaching from the horizon now.

NO. This is a good time to bring up that phrase from a Crumplecorn sig: "a game mechanic, not a real business." Regardless of how much fault CCP has in this, compensating players because other players exploited is just gonna lead down a slippery slope into a world of future complications, and people asking for a bailout whenever anything goes bad.
Also your statement about T2 as the standard is flawed in a way. Targets won't be hard to come by in a post-T2 world because people will simply shift down to lower-meta ships and equipment IF T2 really skyrockets. Any spike in T2 prices will eventually start to balance out as people start rebuilding their moon mining operations at now-vacant moons. ****, targets might actually become EASIER to come by, because people who may have otherwise been concerned by the prevalence of T2 ships in high-risk areas will now feel comfortable taking their chances with T1. But again, that's assuming that T2 really becomes the stuff of royalty. I'll believe it when I see it.

Yay! We can finally go back to the days when flying with T2 actually meant something.

+1 for a valid and constructive reply, but I don't see how t2 being standard is flawed? T2 is the most viable way to play the game as its the middle ground for the rich and the not so rich. I say this because its not too expensive for the not so rich people and not too cheap to suck. So pvp is generally fair, tons of cash won't give you an amazing edge. That's the way it should be. Faction fits are slightly better but wont purely waste anything non faction, do you see what I am getting at? Not sure if I am explaining it as well as I could.

Excuse me, you must be new here - have you seen how insanely LOW the prices for T2 are right now compared to, uh, two years ago ? Also, you should know better than talk about long-term equilibrium prices by just looking at current prices, when every half-decent speculator is wreaking havoc with the markets... wait a month or two before you start complaining about high prices (not that it would do much good anyway, since CCP only cares about outrageously high prices during a very long timespan, they're pretty much hands-off about the rest of things - like I said, it probably won't do much good, but at least you'd be justified in quoting price levels).

You only think T2 is a standard fit. If T2 does become more expensive, T1 will become the standard fit. The same targets will be out there looking for action.
Why do you feel the need to be compensated? Cold, harsh universe, adapt or die, yadda yadda.

Been playing since 2004, and pvp is better now than it has ever been. This of course is my opinion but with the way T2 prices have been in the last year or so have made pvp as fair as possible.

Just a couple of days ago we had somebody whining about T2 fits being too cheap so that PvP wasn't good enough for him since he can't make decent money off the loot Of course, he was at the same time complaining T2 ships themselves cost too much... heh. So yeah, opinions exist on both sides and most people have an opinion somewhere in-between.

Too bad I only had a couple bil handy to buy stuff with I'm betting the market people, i.e. not those who occasionally play the market for fun like me, are going to make some pretty crazy profits in the coming weeks, if not months.

Relationship T1<-------------------->T2<--->Faction
Seriously man, as I stated earlier, the gain from T1 to T2/T2 to Faction differs significantly.

Yes, and it is in no way my own fault for not innovating and competing with japanese planetary vehicles
And yes, the unions, and because of gov interventions the market wasn't 'free' enough, we now need the gov to intervene so the free market can be saved!1!1!! (and so we don't get punished for our own incompetence as should be the case in a free market.) |

I see it as a market correction, just like the US housing and stock markets. As a budding trader I see this as a way to increase my funds. In fact, last night I went shopping and spent all but 15m of my wallet in Jita on products to put back on the market in other markets.

While everyone else continues to speculate on t2 modules and materials, I'll just keep buying what T1 stuff people don't want, melting it down, and turning it into cap ship parts.
Increased cost of T2 will mean some level of increased demand for t1, which might actually end up working in my favor, over time
