anyone elses eve crashing randomly but VERY often? Like anywhere from 2min-1hour into the game? This started occurring ever since I just got this new update released today.

Not Very often, But after I warped to a station umokka.
On/offtopic of bugs: Also I also noticed that sometimes when you salvage a wreck and the original owner fires a heavy missile at it, It just boomerangs back and forth.

Happening to me too. I have a memory check program and it keeps going down to a certain amount then crashes. Thought the patch was suppose to fix it? =( my guess is that it is still memory leaking... or something.... using XP64 and premium as well...

Edited by: ElementalWind on 14/12/2008 03:22:13 I'm using basic on a laptop w/ XP Pro 32bit. I have been out of town this weekend and have not had a chance to try it on my XP Pro 64bit with premium graphics yet.
I swear whoever runs the company that makes this game is throwing money into the fire and needs to get rid of some of the people working for them as it just seems like they have no clue as to what they are doing.
I mean cmon, servers with SSD hard drives, and all the best badass equipment (from what I'm hearing) and they're game lags ALL THE TIME. No it's not my computer, as my pc is a 3.8ghz quad core w/ 8 gigs of ram and 2 video cards and it's definitely not my internet connection. I tried it on verizon fios, at&t dsl, time warner home cable, and time warner fiber optic business and it was all equally just as laggy. Which leads me to believe 1) They're programmers suck at programming for the mass of windows OS's out there, or 2) They're network engineers suck at they're jobs, or a combination of both.

to get the boomerang missiles just tractor one of your own wrecks then turn off the tractor beam and fire a missile at the wreck - works everytime for me.
was fun at 1st but now it can get annoying when trying to clear the wrecks.

Premium Graphics version of Eve has never been stable for me. I tried it again recently hoping the kinks would've been worked out, but nope, crashed after a few systems of traveling. Back to classic for now...

I got it from another thread..
I reduced Anti Aliasing to 2x (was at 8x prior) and my crashes ceased. Only played for about two hours on new settings, but before that I crashed out at gates every 5-20 jumps, randomly.
Not a definate fix, but worth a try if you run higher levels of AA.

Also, windowed mode crashes constantly on some ATI cards - fullscreen does not.

Can confirm this. Seems to happen pretty randomly for me, but its not a CTD and comes up with a runtime error.

Hmm, i'm having quite a fwe issues, massive random lag spikes(2 in local), also won't let me start up a 2nd client unless i stay at the desktop(if i bring up 1 eve client after staring and one,it gives me some error) started after the patch of course.

Yes, me too... I keep getting a runtime error (R6025) whenever I ALT-TAB out of game a couple of times, probably on the forth or fifth time I get the error.
I run Vista x64.

Edited by: Cibo Seidensha on 14/12/2008 11:51:48 Eve gets slower and slower over time, until tabbing out takes minutes with lots of memory caching/hdd activity. Then it will finally crash. Takes 1-3hours to happen, but happens everytime. Crashes occur when tabbing out, but also when warping to a new location, stargate jumping, docking in staion (=loading more into memory?).
This is with premium content, full screen. Happens since last patch, before it was all fine.
Sounds like a typical memory leak, right?

Signed, not very often but never happened before QR and since the patches i got some very nasty crashes. ------- "I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day, when he said; 'Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?' Grandpa said, 'No, but I served in a company of heroes." |

If you got nvidia card, then in windows use the graphics settings on performance. Eve somehow has problems, if that setting is on quality. Guess it cant handle the AA stuff then.

Yesterday, 12/13/08, I got the 'socket closed' message, game crashed. Attempted to log back in, CCP ExeFile crashed. I've uninstalled, and reinstalled, both classic and premium versions, still get crash at splash screen. So I petitioned it. Took them over 12 hours to reply. Their reply...basically that it's on my side of the net or my computer, not that they f^#ked up the patch. They want server logs, mini dumps, directX diagnostics, pingplotter...This is all busy work guys, to make you think that they need that info to figure what the problem is...it's simple, since the last patch, they screwed up one line of code, and now it's broke. Will they admit that? Hell no! Do not let them pull the wool over your eyes...they messed up, they need to admit it, fix it, and move on.

I get the 'socket closed' crash as well. Either EVE can't seem to find the server at all (or after like 2 - 5 minutes), or it crashes really quick after entering the game, mostly after two minutes max. This didn't happen before the latest patch.

I get exactly the same problem. About an hour in, everythings going fine, then boom, black screen with an exe error message. Likewise, this has never happened before QR. Filed a petition, but CCP sent me this lost of instructions telling me to find it myself, then tell them the problem. Look, I'm paying you enough, do your patch magic CCP ;b

Well - dunno what the problem is. But I play EVE on a laptop that is certainly less powerful than your machine and the times I saw serious lag was when a) we attacked an Outpost and had 300 ships around b) Dodixie complex with a zillion wrecks c) on the rare occasion I flew through Jita (pre-stacklessIO)
Other than above examples noticable lag is rare in my experience (even before stacklessIO). The experience of my corp mates are generally similar to mine - so are those of most people I meet in game.
Not saying your issues aren't real - nor that it is your fault. But you are wrong if you assume that serious lag is universal. Might just be some weird combination of some EVE code and perhaps your particular graphic driver - or whatever.
