Edited by: davcin on 15/12/2008 12:30:27 Hi,
Some time ago (since the 5-6 latest updates, including small patchs) the EVE Client started to crash (Premium). When it crashes, windows also crashes and sometimes it gives a hardware failed related blue screen.
It seems to be happening only in space.
As far as I can see, it is only happening with the EVE client. I play all other games without any problem.
My config: Windows Vista 32bit (updated) Creative X-Fi 2 4Gb Ram NVIDIA 9800GX2 (update with the latest beta, 180.84, but it happen on other versions)
Any help?

Now it crashed the client and not Windows... (a improvement I guess)

650W Intel Quad 2.5
The error message on the blue screen (there isn't another) is something related to hardware failure but doesn't say what hadware and the number I don't have... (the blue screen only appears sometimes)

Sometimes the sound loops, sometimes it doesn't. (it depends of when it crashes, I guess)

Don't know.
I will try to update the sound drives (that probably aren't updated) and see.

Updating the sound drivers didn't work... (it still crashes)
I have the present interval set to 'Interval immediate'.

Edited by: davcin on 17/12/2008 09:07:33 I am using the 180.84 beta drivers from the NVIDIA site but I did use other versions also and it crashed all the same...
Recently it is happening something curious. I start the PC and play EVE. It crashes windows. Windows reboots and I play EVE again but this time it doesn't crash anymore. Any ideas of why?
Will check the thread thanks.

Humm... could this be SLI related? (the NVIDIA 9800GX2 is actually two boards working in SLI)

Originally by: RaTTuS with reference to This if you disable the SFX completely does it stop happening ?
also if you switch the interval to One does it stop happening
try either one and both ..
Also if running in SLI mode - try it in multi display mode - does it make a difference
I would prefer to leave the disable the sound option to last since, even if it solves the problem, I really like the EVE sound and want to keep it... Also someone with the same problem also reported that it didn't help (in is case, true)
I will try the interval to One to see.
Also, I have firefox always open. Now, it may be a coincidence, but yesterday, I opened firefox first and EVE after and it crashed. But, after the reboot, I did open EVE before firefox and it didn't crash. As said before, maybe it is a coincidence but will try again today (and the interval to one).

Originally by: Majestic Twilight This happened to a friend of mine when he was playing the trial. I advised him to make sure his video driver were up to date. It seemed to work for him. Not sure what his video card was but again it did work. Best thing to do is check for driver updates 1st! :)
It didn't help on my case. I update them before and updated them again with the version that was released a few days ago and it still crashed.

This seems to have helped a little. It seems to crash less but it still crashes. I will post a update in a few days.

Originally by: CCP Tanis. It would be very helpful if you could write down exactly what the BSOD screen says next time it happens.
[Pro-Tip: If your cell phone has a camera, take a pic of the error; then you can just upload the image and link it here ;)]
You will need to disable automatic restart.. here's how.
Ok, will do that next time it happens. (it seems to be more stable now by the way, running for some time now and no crash yet)
Thanks

It crashed again when I right clicked a system link in the 'The Right Hand Of Zazzmatazz' mission description...
Here is the BSOD screen: http://eve-files.com/dl/182690
After the reboot, Windows Vista displayed this extra info:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen OS Version:6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID:2070
Additional information about the problem: BCCode:124 BCP1:00000000 BCP2:85C2F3F0 BCP3:B2000040 BCP4:00000800 OS Version:6_0_6001 Service Pack:1_0 Product:256_1
(Windows Vista Ultimate)
Let me know if you need to more info about this.

Thanks for the tip. I will disable the C1E setting to see if it will work.

Disabling the C1E setting didn't work . I am going to try other solutions from Reference and let you know latter how it worked out.

Unfortunately it looks as if the file has been removed.. is it possible for you to put it up on Photobucket or some other free host so I can take a look?
Here it is: BSOD image

Originally by: Myrhial Arkenath Edited by: Myrhial Arkenath on 05/01/2009 08:45:08 I have the exact same setup as davcin and I am experiencing similar problems. I don't only experience this in EVE but also in other games. There is no distinct pattern in when or why the crashes appear. I've tried driver updates for all hardware but the bluescreens keep happening.
@ davcin: Is your system from the Dell XPS series as well? Would explain the similarities in hardware. They are pretty popular amongst gamers which means a lot more people could be suffering from the same problem which would be a damn shame.
@ CCP Tanis: Is there any further information I could provide to contribute to tracking down the source of this problem?
No, mine is a custom system. The motherboard is from ASUS with Intel stuff. I made some research and it seems to be happening to allot of people. In my case, what is estrange is that it happens only when I play EVE.
I recently notice that my BIOS haves a setting that 'asks' if the OS is a PnP OS. For some reason (it wasn't me who configure the BIOS) it was OFF. I turned it ON and for some days the problem disappeared but now it is happening again. I am going to try to update the BIOS when possible to see if it helps (a new version was released recently and I have the one before that version)

Updating the BIOS didn't help, it still crashes. I submit a petition with my dxdiag file to see if it helps (tracking id is 1336163).

It still keeps crashing (less times I believe)
No word about the petition from CCP or anything else. |

Just got a email saying a petition was closed.
Must be the petition related to this since I don't have another one open. CCP never did reply and the petition itself never appeared in my petitions list.
The tracking ID was 1336163.

Just made a clean Vista 64 install (I had previously Vista 32)
Same problem. Eve, and EVE only, still crashes. Even after a clean install. This is only happening with EVE. I have no problems playing other games.
