So today's OSX update supposedly contains fixes for 3d gaming. Anyone having a better EVE experience post-patch?

For details on the Apple patch you should go and see the Apple patch notes. They say they fixed "game related" stuff. Including "some distortion on some ATI cards".
This may or may not fix the station-graphics-on-ati kind of problems. May or may not fix the crazed flying bitmaps and texts. It will not fix the F11 map because that was already fixed by CCP/Transgaming in the last patch (at least it did fix it for me).
Casqade, I promised you on the TQ Os X channel to say something about the new Apple patch as soon as I installed it. I did on both a MacPro with the 8800 and on my MacBookPro with the 8600M GT. I did not yet have the time to do much testing. Logged in, undocked, warped to a gate and then back to dock. Tested if the F11 map was still functional. Results: everything was Ok on both machines. Will probably do some more significant stuff tomorrow night (so it will be new OS and new client too!!).
Unfortunately I do not have access to an ATI based mac at the moment, so I cannot say anything about that part.

Edited by: Verite Rendition on 16/12/2008 13:40:11 I really don't have a good test besides the POS test, but it doesn't seem to be performing any differently from 10.5.5/1.0.3 on my Mac Pro. That goes for Cider-EVE, Parralls-EVE, and Crossover-Premium-EVE. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

I'm still experiencing the same graphics glitches as always, most notably buggged missile explosion animations (explosions are in day-glo colors or look weird and spiky, cruise missile explosions are jagged and sharp, etc). On a MBP with the nVidia 8600 GT. The warp animation is also sometimes filled with random junk characters.

I downloaded the latest build, installed it, run it and it did autopatch even if it was the latest (but it only autopatched cider, not the client). Worked so far nicely and been online for several hours, sometimes with two clients, with no need to revert cider. Mac Book Pro early 2008, Leopard 10.5.6.

I'm still having the same issues with the minmatar station exteriors not being all there, as well as the weird text being displayed in some of the visible rendering for effects like gas clouds and shields.
I have a 15" MBP with the Nvidia cards in it.
I don't appear to be having no issues with with my iMac with the ATI video card.

I am having regular crashes with my client mainly if I do cmd-tab several times, interestingly when finally my client crashes firefox does not work anymore and I have to reboot the laptop.
Fire and explosions still have glitches. F11 works nicely! (something good)
I am using a MacBook Pro (17 inches) with Nvidia 8600. Everything updated.
I hope the cmd-tab crashes (memory leaks) can be fixed soon!!

Edited by: SPACE L0RD on 30/12/2008 19:53:35 switching the the (unsupported) windowed mode has helped me tremendously with the CMD-TAB issue. I can play the client for hours with no crashes (even with EvE voice enabled) as long as I play after a fresh boot and reboot before I launch the client again.
With the current client, something in the OS goes wacked and I have learned that I need to reboot my computer after playing EvE or I have weird issues like the one your having with firefox...eg...applications that won't open, computer won't sleep/wake from sleep.

Ive found in my experience that merely loggin out and back into OS X will get your machine running properly again. No reboot necessary. I have gone as far as creating another gaming login for my system so I dont lose all of my regular work in my personal user login from Eve screwing up the environment.

Ok so both are good ideas. Will try them. Thanks! I was just about to go to bootcamp to play in a decent way!
