Edited by: Gamer4liff on 16/12/2008 02:28:16 Recently I just completed True Power Shipyards, an Amarrian highsec/end lowsec arc that spins off of the "Sansha Vigil" unknown signal (0.6 space I believe). This arc blew me away, as lame as it sounds I was actually captivated it, and did the entire thing in one sitting.
The main thing that got me was the writing. Even though it kind of read like the person who wrote it's first language wasn't English, or was drunk, or both, it still had a lot of character for an arc. The basic setup in the beginning is that you intercept a transmission from a very cranky True Power factory manager who sends you to three different locations in order asking for you to pick up parts for delivery to the factory. Eventually after hitting all the pickup locations (which have a faction cruiser spawn at almost all of them) you reach the factory itself in a lowsec system, and eventually confront him directly. The ending was a little bit of a letdown because he spawns as the factory is going down to structure, you'd think there would be some kind of message in local from him declaring how he was going to make you his red headed stepchild or something. Also he didn't drop anything for me, but that just be my luck.
The rewards themselves are pretty substantial, I got a fancy True Sansha focused pulse laser, and some low-grade slave implant, probably could have done better with more luck though.
The combat starts off extremely difficult and kind of declines though, had to change ships to better counter the Sansha's truly annoying tactic of tracking disrupting my absolution. The initial Sansha's Vigil location is probably the most difficult exploration location I've ever come across in highsec. It limits to command ship and below, and delivers a punishing load of damage, I wouldn't suggest anybody attempt it in anything less than a Anti-Sansha tanked command ship. I'm reasonably sure it has multiple possible escalations too, which is cool. Also, slight bug all the towers at the last spot at the factory itself don't go off at once in a group.
The sites themselves are pretty well done, except for a moderately glaring flaw. I'm not sure if the person who built the levels knew what the "Warning Sign" object looked like, because a good deal of the sites have This classic Easter egg in them. Either way the levels are still pretty aesthetically pleasing.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed spending a good few hours on this exploration arc. I'd highly recommend Amarr explorers check it out.
Anybody else have favorite exploration sites/arcs that they get all excited about when they find?

They're called escalations..
We always get exited when we find them, but that is more due to being in 0.0, and always been sent into deep hostile territory (up to 25 jumps), which always makes it a thrill due to the pvp aspects :P
We have one escalation a lot in particular, it promises 1 bill if you kill 4 sansha officers (which aren't listed in the NPC database, so no officer drops), but we had a lot of good stuff from it, like X-type EANMs, Bhaalgorn and Nightmare BPC's, Slave implants etc etc. BUT : It fails more then 50% of the time (no 3rd or 4th escalation), and even after finishing we always get the message that we can forget about the 1 bill.
We tried a few drone escalations, but never had a sentient drop a drone BPC :(
tl;dr : the thrill comes from the pvp aspect, trying to get to the escalation unseen, and the rewards are always worth it.

Sansha vigil is not that hard to require a commandship, I did it in a drake without rewarps. Wait till you see sansha annex plex (though it's in lowsec only I think) Did that expedition too, got empty wreck from foreman and sansha battletower dropped just random crap too, no deadspace or faction stuff(loot table might be borked, don't know anyone that had good stuff drop there) If it's like expeditions from other pirate vigils it is supposed to drop centii A-type off the sansha foreman

They work for CCP. It's probably both.
I'm jealous: the few escalations we've seen either die out, take us to our doom in 0.0 through a camped pipe, or arrive with a 24 hour deadline just when I can't play for another couple of days. Nice to hear that CCP is actually injecting a bit of variety into the notoriously underloved PVE content.

Oh dang, oh well, I hope they fix that eventually.
Then again, I think the exploration trigger been called "Sansa" refinery in Sansha Hideout since exploration came out so who knows.

You're both right -- expeditions have a chance to escalate -- stop splitting hairs

:P They're a-types, mistyped.. the X-type drops we had where Em and thermal armor hardeners.
BtW, after March (BO buff) : Escalation / Expedition into 0.0 : go in with covops, covert cyno a BR, a few stealth bombers, force recons and a BO in.
BO tanks room, rest kills stuff, BR loots.. Covop flies back home, puts cyno up, all out... Can't wait !

Escalations (except one I know) are VERY easy. We do them all the time with BC/RR ships, so a BO can also do it easily.
Don't tell me a BO has a worse tank then a Myrm :P

I just helped a corp mate with that Sansha Vigil... not sure what got so out of control... but we ended up having to warp out repeatedly because of the 800dps we were taking.... that's an estimate....
My Drake held up like crap.... shield was a buffer more than anything. I have a rep of just over 300 hp/s Btw. that's what EFT tells me anyway. Amarr - Khanid Since Feb-08 |

You probably destroyed all missile and webbing tower in second room from the start, didn't you, noob? IIRC each and every destroyed missile tower adds 2 BCs and some smaller stuff, webbing tower calls oversier with friends _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |
