I'm trying to predict what skills are currently trainable that will assist in exploring, discovering, building and flying tech 3 ships.
The problem is, I suck at it. My first order of business was to train all learning skills to V. That's right, and it only took me a month. I wonder if tech 2 skills like heavy assault ships or command ships will need to be trained to lvl V, or if tech 3 will be on such a wild tangent from all of that.
Let's have your ideas.

Personally I hope they require Advanced Spaceship Command at the very least. It would need to be trained up one level for each size class of T3 ships used (level 1 for T3 frigs, 2 for destroyers, etc although last I heard we don't actually know what size classes will be available for T3.)
I'm thinking various science and mechanic skills would make sense as well since the things are going to be getting put together from modular pieces. PvPers laugh at the industrialists who complain about having to train combat skills, so we better keep our mouths shut if we have to train industrial support skills to fly T3. Just sayin.
edit: These suggestions won't affect me personally because I already have advanced spaceship command at 5 and have a bunch of science skills trained up for industry.

with bonuses missing or not strong enough, with features that make the class what it is either not working ot inadiquate for its intended role.
oh and a dash of pre-nerf.

With extreme role specialization, particular constructions will be exceedingly good at a single type of task. Trying to make a generic construction will result in something barely better than a T1 ship, with the price difference making it prohibitive to use T3 for that purpose.

I'll be happy with it as long as it isn't clearly broken as a game mechanic. If it turns out that any given T3 setup is only effective against a narrow class of opponents then fine. In fact I can see an upside to that. It doesn't sound like CCP envisions there being a clear progression of effectiveness from T1 to T2 to T3 so we may be looking at the use of T3 as an art more than a science. Right now thanks to EFT number crunching and years of practical experimentation with the ships currently in-game the outcome of a lot of combat engagements can be predicted before the fight commences, although it's important to mention that there are still plenty of cases where this does NOT occur, which I'm also happy for.

The only thing i want from T3, is ships that can be focused fully on one role and be unbeatable VS. any t1 or t2 ship trying the same thing. This will breed new tactics and fits.
If of course, T3 does what ccp says it does. and arnt horribly pre nerfed and or broken.

Someone else said this somewhere first, but:
Jury Rigging 5. T3 is supposed to be modular ships... bits and pieces...
And if CCP wants to be evil, all of the rigging skills as well (add an extra engine? better have Astronautics rigging 5!).
But there will probably be some new skill anyway (Starship component interconnections, Rank 99) making all that look like nothing.
