My guess would be sometime between December 17th and the 23rd.
Europeans do day/month/year as opposed to month/day/year.
And of course just like the metric system, it actually makes more sense

It's called merican
Actually it's called American, standard (which is ironic) or imperial.
Or just plain wacky.

Actually, it's called "English" as in English units, despite the fact that the English do not use that system anymore (it is a holdover from a long time ago). ------------- Stop whining.

Well, "English" is not the same as "British". But I prefer "imperial".
Americans have many strange rituals. Thanksgiving is okay - they remember the time when the native americans helped them in need. But they tend to forget that there's a whole world outside america. I was kinda scared when I asked some 16 year old kid to show me Iraq on a map. (He searched for it in europe!) They have a dictatorship that calls itself "democracy". Oh, and they have a president that learned the duck and cover drill in school. So, allow them their strange units. All we get from that is fun with crashlanded probes on mars, but no bad side effects. --- "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign for a diseased mind." -Terry Pratchett |

And what back-water country do you live in that doesn't sport any strange traditions?

Edited by: Kushan on 18/12/2008 05:02:11 The metric system is superior in every way (Born, raised, and live in US)
It's really a pity that it hasn't been adopted as a national standard. It has been tried in California, as I understand, but resulted in mass confusion.

Oh, right. We're outside the US. We live in caves and eat raw meat. (Well, at least the part with raw meat is true.)
Originally by: Kushan [...]but resulted in mass confusion.
That's because it's been thrown at the people without any preparation. Preparation is the key:
First, you print the metric numbers in half the size of the other number next to them. Like "1 Gallon (3.785 L)" After that, you write them both in the same size ("1 Gallon / 3.785 L") for two years. The next step is having them switch places. It says "3.785 L (1 Gallon)" for two years. After that, the final step. The sizes are following the metric system, the imperial system is only left to help the older people. (It will say "2 L (0.528 Gallon)".) After an other 10-15 years, the old imperial numbers will start to disappear as the younger generation will not need it anymore. The generation "BRH" (before reteirement home) will be able to adapt, and the gegneration "RH" (retirement home) will have younger people to help them (most of them will not notice the difference anyway). --- "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign for a diseased mind." -Terry Pratchett |
