Hi,
As a very new player I only read a few some stories so far about the Gallente Federation, but isnt it true that the President cant be elected twice in a row ?
see : http://www.eve-online.com/races/gallenteGov_intro.asp
Quote 1: A president heads the executive arm of the Gallente Federation. The president is elected every 5 years and the same man cannot be re-elected.
Quote 2: Final election results are in from the Federation: President Souro Foiritan has claimed victory by a narrow margin, beating his opponent, Senator Mentas Blaque, by just a single point. This will make him the first president in Gallente history ever to serve more than one term in office.
"I am proud, and I am humbled, to be granted the opportunity to serve this great nation for five more years," said the President..
Sourc of quote 2 : http://myeve.eve-online.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1296&tid=4
Sincerely yours,

Edited by: Irida Mershkov on 18/12/2008 16:57:19 Foiritan has had a special rule basically put in place saying he can be re-elected, seeing as he was so redicuously popular compared to the other candidates, nobody really cared they were bending the rules because the Federation was benefiting so much from him.
It's briefly passed upon in the Empyrean Age novel.

Funnily enough I was just uploading news links about this to Evelopedia a few days ago. You can find more details about the election there.

It seems that so long the will of the people is served and not the agenda of one man, democracy will be the best form of goverment known to man. Even after more than 20.000 years of social and technological evolotion. I hope that under President Souro Foiritan's leadership, our race will be respected by all others and revered of our abilities. Gallentean civilation should be a light in the darkness that is space.

Wait, Blaque was Foiritan's opponent...? This is very interesting, as Blaque now serves as head of the Black Eagles, or whatever the new intelligence division was called.
Anyways, it's clear that Foiritan is dismantling the Federation and that things might be getting a bit more grim and dark. -----

I do not think Foiritan will dismantle the Federation instead he wants to preserve it. From what I read from the Book and the Chronicles, is now choosing the lesser evils to keep the Federation intact.
The Federation had a bad start into the war. Caldari Prime is in the Hands of the State which now has a Base right in the Gallentes Home-System and many Citizens are practically Hostages. Tibus Heth the leader of the Caldari hates everything Gallente with fanatical passion. Since the Invasion Attempt of Solitude and the counterattack there is also War with the Amarr Empire.
Right now the Federation is at war with the two largest Empires and their ally, the Minmatar Republic is dissolving. Foiritan is caught between a rock and a hard place and many choices he must now face are of the "lesser evil" type.

To preserve stability of the federation some tough choices have been made. Not is all well in the calderi empire tho and the amarr are realising 9th generation minmatar slaves into freedom
The khandid attemtped to invade gal space ( probably after they recaptured their rogue general) The ammatar of aridia who knows not much news out of there mostly anti blood patrols a amarr navy presence. The odd serpentis titan that escapes up thro there and empire outcasts.
Minmatar well collapse of the empire but gains with the thukkers.

That's because those above post are confusing key facts or are missing part of the story.

Kador forces made an attack into Solitude.

The Ammatar are now under an Amarrian heirs control. The Khanid Royal Navy (Khanid Kingdom) conducted a large scale anti Blood Raiders operation.
Originally by: Deviana Sevidon Since the Invasion Attempt of Solitude and the counterattack there is also War with the Amarr Empire.
A Kador Fleet invaded Solitude; the Emperess punished Kador by folding what remained of his fleet into the Imperial Navy. Kador was giving safehaven to the traitor Federation Admiral. The Federation conducted an operation to retrieve the Admiral; Imperial forces did absolutely nothing to stop them. The only state of war that exist between the Federation and the Empire is the militia act allowing their capsuleer militias to shoot at each other.
Quote: Caldari Prime is in the Hands of the State which now has a Base right in the Gallentes Home-System and many Citizens are practically Hostages. Tibus Heth the leader of the Caldari hates everything Gallente with fanatical passion.
Caldari Prime is in the hands of the Caldari State, it is also the Caldari homeworld, previously occupied by the Federation. Gallente Prime is being held hostage, yes, to ensure Caldari Prime remains in Caldari hands. The Caldari establish a lose-lose scenario for any Federation attempt to reconquer Caldari Prime. Caldari lose Caldari Prime, Gallente lose Gallente Prime. Heth hates Gallente influence on Caldari, especially the executives who have more opportunities to be exposed to it. Sure he hates the Gallente too, but likely because of their instances to involve themselves in the affairs of the Caldari.
Contrary to recent fiction, the Federation is just as full of filth and evil as the State, Empire, and Republic. We as players (mostly westerns) can generally relate to it better as it is styled western democracy and culture. This makes them appear to be 'good'; they aren't.

Edited by: Deviana Sevidon on 02/01/2009 22:22:40 I have read the News Dex, yes it was a Kador Fleet and yes the attack was for the most part motivated by the wish to get hold of Eturrer. Yet it is not what most Citizens will see when the watch the News.
The average Gallente will have only seen an Amarrian Fleet in Solitude and the Amarr saw Gallente Ships in Kador that destroyed Amarrian property and killing Amarrian people. The War is there and people on both sides will scream for blood, despite the fact that both Foiritan and Jamyl would not want to put more fuel into the fire at the moment. (Ok everything is speculation on my side )
The thing about the Gallente is, they were were always the good guys but I always thought they were a bit of anti-star trek type federation. Federation people enjoy the most freedoms but for many it is a freedom without knowing restraint and spoiled with drugs and random violence. The Federation politicians work nominally for their people but in reality they are mostly hypocrites that spend their time with backstabbing each other.
(Again this is how I view the Federation. You will never hear Deviana IC speak about the Federation in such a way. I think it is the most cynical of the 4 Empires and for every citizen that really believes in the Gallente ideals you will find 10 that are just in for money, power or lust)

Fair enough. In this section I try my best to keep it Out of Character as much as possible. That is why I added the information.

In addition to Dex's notes, I do also hasten to add that the Ni-Kunni are native to Aridia, whereas the Ammatar do live in Derelik.
