I have warning boxes for entering low security. I have warning boxes for firing on a nuetral in high sec. I have warning boxes for assisting a gcc/outlaw pilot. I have warning boxes for stealing. I have warning boxes for undocking with criminal cargo.
None of these are useful to me because I am an outlaw and I normally intend to do the above mentioned things and the box only serves to delay my dastardly deeds another second while I click "ok."
So I turned them all off.
However, there is one warning box I would REALLY appreciate.
I would like a warning box to warn outlaws they are about to jump to high sec.
I would use that box. Many a time, I have had to outrun concord when I accidentally enter a high sec system and many other times, I have been unsuccessful and been exploded.
So please. I realize that it's my mistake, but I don't see why carebears should get 1726 warning boxes to keep them safe and we got nothing as outlaws.

Because as an outlaw, you should know the law in order to be out of it.

What I always dream about for gates are blinky beacons that indicate the security status of the system the gate leads to. Like a gate to 0.5 security is yellow blinky and if you're an outlaw you immediately see that you should not jump there.
I guess that would work almost as good as a warning box. At least it wouldn't have a pop-up annoyance.

Fixed
EDIT: For clarification, I fully support this proposal. Bad user interface design is NOT a good punishment for in-game crimes.

I like this idea. Some sort of easily distinguishable beacon on the gate that is the same color as in the maps 'color by sec status'. Would serve the same purpose as a warning, but would not force a dialog on you. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

Problem - there are those of us that are colourblind or colourdeficient... some people cannot differenciate between the different colours easily, some at all.

You deserve to get concorded if you don't check the sec status of the system you're jumping in.

To accomodate the colorblind, the beacons could be selectable and be named by the security status they represent, like 0.5 Beacon. That way you do not need to rely on your color sight to identify the beacon.

Add something to the gates that shows the destination sec status. Helps everyone who wants to know the sec of the next system, be it pirate or carebear. Hurts no one. |

Don't try to use logic on them. It doesn't work. ======= I support the concept of colored beacons or something to show the sec status the gate leads to. -Xindi Kraid CSFI lead engineer and shipwright

Simple support does not add anything to a thread. This forum here is to discuss and develop ideas. Votes don't mean anything, use the Assembly Hall for that. |
