My clients crash, stall, and disappear. It's only since they focussed on making it better for us. Have they focussed too hard and now us multi toon pilots are doomed? is it because they made it look better? Is it the new loader? What ever it is my machine runs hotter and harder and the bandwidth use is larger. If I can only run one client/toon per machine I will consider another space based game. A couple of months ago I could run my toons and mine/shoot the crap out of things. Now I am lucky if I can stay in space.
So, evedudes, what the hell have you done wrong?

I didn't understand. You want to run 2 clients with 2 accounts or 2 clients with 1 account? The second option is of course not possible as you can not log in to same account twice.
The first option, I myself did not see any changes or issues lately. I can run 6 clients on the same machine from the same folder without any issues,
And why is this thread in this sub forum and not general |

Sounds like your machine is having a bit of issues lately. Did you update any GPU drivers lately? Maybe it's a good idea to fall back on a release that is stable for you? Maybe clean out the computer, check for temperature, etc. etc. quote CCP Spitfire

I have multiple accounts and use a Dell XPS 1702 with 8 gig of ram, 64 bit OS and 3 gig nvidia card. It was bought new in July last year. Upgrade what?.
I have multiple accounts and up a couple of months ago they were all stable and the laptop would happily handle 4 accounts/clients runnig at once.
The first indication having to switch of anti aliasing as everything was slowing down. now it becomes unstable with two accounts running, but at weird times, ie there is no pattern. At different times I can run the accounts for an hour and nothing happens.
Thanks for the thoughts on the GPU |

I had a similar problem as you did. I also have a similar setup as you. My problem was that my ATI graphics card could not handle it anymore and was the reason behind all the crashes and eventually the blue screen of death. Had nothing to do with how many boxes though. My graphics card in general was dieing. Your graphics card my be dieing a slow death. My suggestion would be to lower the graphical settings for the game. |

It doesn't have to be because of lack of power. I had a problem with running 3 clients on a 7970 with newest drivers. It would crash whole setup in less than 10 minutes. Geforce 550 Ti 3GB however hasn't crashed even once with otherwise same setup. |

Tossing your graphics card in the oven for a while sometimes helps too. True story: repeated heating and cooling can cause the solder connections to weaken and crack. Reflowing the solder can restore it to its original state.
Not a guaranteed solution, but it works more often than you'd think. |

would not recommend it if the card still works in other games. if it works it's mostly only for some time. use it as a last hope method. |

I run three clients across two monitors on much older hardware.
Something else has changed, probably a driver or a poorly-written program running in the background. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

Tangent: The vast majority of problems in Windows are due to poorly-written software--and I don't mean Windows. Almost every time I fix something without replacing hardware, I do so by uninstalling, reinstalling, reconfiguring, or patching some piece of software that was causing the problem. WTB more good developers. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

I have had the same problem since the client was redone. Used to be fine running 2 clients, now sometimes its fine with no problems, othertimes it is constant lock-ups. Seems like the longer the clients run, the more it happens. There was a forum post from a dev I saw stating that there may be a memory leak or some such somewhere in the new client, could be the issue... |

there have been memory leaks on Eve for absolutely months and months. Leave your character sat in station doing absolutely nothing and the mem usage goes from 600k/800k to over 1200k/1400k, thats not natural, thats bad coding imo. |

This is really unhelpful advice for your situation: but next time you purchase a computer for gaming, don't buy a laptop. You invariably have cooling issues, a fan will go out, and they're not easy to replace. They're also easily twice the cost of a tower computer.
Try to make sure all accessible areas are clear of dust and debris, and consider getting a cooling pad. If it's not a heat related issue, it's probably your GPU's driver.
Currently running 3-5 clients no problem, so it's not EVE (unless it's how EVE is interacting with your hardware's drivers). |

I was having that use as well was running 2 clients with no issues then after a patch in November or December was horrible to run 2 clients. What I did to resolve this was reinstall the client and now it works fine, worked for me might just work for u :) I don't always bring out my Absolution.
But when I do it makes the Blue's rage, lol. |

I have same issues as well. Not as much crashes, but freezes lasting for a minute and an unplayable game.
I do think I solved the issue by turning of AA completely, but this is not the right solution imo.
It is not about my specs as i have a 2600k, 16gb ram, gtx560 and a good psu. I do have 2 boxes on 2 monitors. |

I have one of the new fangled, all dancing, all singing laptops and it actually sings to you when you switch it on! its called a dell......
Sorry :-)
On a serious note, lately i've had the same problems with the client telling me on startup that i have an older video card and would i like to lower the graphics etc, so i've just clicked on the yes button and got on with it. i dont really notice any difference in the graphics and i can still use my 3 toons at the same time. I will upgrade the system but its not on the cards at the moment. |

OP,
As a follow-up to my earlier post...
Last night my client went completly nuts. Graphics were like watching an old tv with a bad antenna with tons of static and fuzz. This did not happen to any other programs or video on my computer. I used the fix tool in the launcher and cleared my cache, which did not help. I than installed new drivers for my Geforce video card, and now things are smooth as butter and no hang-ups. Try updating your video card drivers if you have not done so already. |
