Hello everyone!
Just wanted to say hello to the EvE community. I've just stumbled upon this great game and am loving every minute of it.

Hi and welcome to the community.
Try posting this in the general discussions, if you want to get a true taste of the community. The different forum sections attract different kind of people, but most visit the GD forum, so you get a mix of the good and the bad. In this section you'll find mostly helpful people. That might be nice if you just want your questions answered, but the trolling, whining, asshattery, ideas, humor, roleplaying and general chatting all happens elsewhere.
Don't be afraid to come and join in the fun

One quick question...
Is it worthwhile joining a player run corp as soon as possible? There seems to be so many corps to choose from!

I think it is, but as you said there are so many. I started out in one I found in the recruitment channel and then when that corp kinda died out a week later 2 of us from there joined another bigger much better corp. Takes time. Join the Recruitment channel, I found it better than anything else.

It's hard to say really. Player corps are really the focus of the game, that's for sure. I'd say that it might be a good idea to join a corporation like EVE University first. Most worthwhile player corporations require people to have a bit of experience with the game before hiring, although that isn't to say that there are no good corporations that take on new players and train them properly.
The point is that EVE Uni is a safe bet.

Yes, just choose one where the people seem cool. Don't choose based on free ships or other silly things like that. It's the people that make the difference.
Also, it will take some trial and error before you settle on a corp. That's ok.

Edited by: Slade Trillgon on 31/12/2008 02:09:02 First off welcome and enjoy this wonderful game.
One major recommendation is to start reading stickies. There is a vast amount of information so start reading and when you have a question search eve-search.com for past threads and if you can not find the info there come back here and ask.

Eve University is truly one of the best options. Otherwise the recruitment channel and the player recruitment forum are good resources. Speak with a few recruiters and then make a decision. I did not have the opportunity, but I definitely recommend you to apply to Eve Uni asap.

Thanks to everyone who has replied!
I'll check out EvE University immediately. I've spent a lot of time reading the new player guides and trying to fathom out my place within this game. Takes me back ( a long time ) to my Elite days. Brilliant fun.

Hi Wetwipe!
Joining a player corp definitely can be a lot of fun. Just remember that if you don't like the first (or second, or third) one you join, you can always move on to another one. As you said there are so many, there's bound to be one where you'll feel at home.
