So I'm at work and realize I've forgotten to set a skill the night before (skill queue CCP ? Pretty please with sugar on top ?) so I activate my anti-security program (boss runs spyware) and install eve classic to quickly change skill and deinstall it again.
And what do I see ? Kewl animations in the Dodixie moon 20 station I never realized were there ("visit the pleasure hub", "quafe rulez" etc). Tonight I log in with my premium client and no animations.
What gives ?

The premium client has different station environments, I guess they didn't want/forgot to add the "kewl" stuff.

The premium client can't handle all of the k-radness that classic can, hence no animations.

yea there are different station environments
Did you also know you can copy your Eve Client from your home PC to a USB stick, and run it right from there without any installing? Really makes it nice to run at work when they won't let you install stuff like that ... only because you should be working :D

To OP: Before Premium, there were a lot of different station environments (like 3-5 for each race, I think), but CCP consolidated it into one for each race with the graphics workover. I guess there might be other ones in the pipeline, but I doubt it's a high priority.

He just told you all there is to it.
1. Install EVE. 2. Copy the directory to a USB drive. 3. Connect the drive to some other computer. 4. Run EVE from the drive.
You're not gonna have any of your settings (as they are saved outside the game directory), but you'll be free to play the game anywhere without downloading that massive client every time. -----

*Bump for CCP attention*
Thanks for the explanation....but...I've visited Amarr stations in Premium and they DO have kewl animations (i.e. flying car-thingies). So why the neglect of Gallente stations then ? Did CCP not like the animations (cause I sure like em). Perfomance issue ? Unlikely. I'm burning with curiosity here like a small hot neutron star

Isn't there a commandline setting that tells eve not to be vag and hide the friggin settings folder deep in the bowels of the HD? like... /LUA:OFF or summat?

I remember reading a thread about thumb drives somewhere and someone talking about a command line or scrypt that would make eve save settings to the thumbdrive instead of the HD. Sorry I am not linking to it, I am lazy and it would take me a while to find that post. Perhaps someone who uses that technique will be kind enough to comment in here.

always wondered why that all the light effects for T2 ships were disabled when you move up to premium graphics. IE, Prowler, Vagabond, etc....
in fact, most of the premium ships look quite sharp, but aren't nearly as 'flashy' as classic. strange.

TBH i went back and forth for a while but in the end despite having a pc that can easily handle premium graphics i prefer classic . i find most ships in premium look unfinished in my experience the huginn seems sexy from the front but the arse looks like a disaster same with the nidhoggur . some ship components like solar pannels look cooler but all things considered i still think the classic client looks much better the ships seemed refined . most ships in trinity seem to have been rushed and in many cases look worse than their classic counterparts .

I agree. The premium graphics make my beloved Phoon look terrible. Only way I'd run them is if I was flying a Brutix or Domi hull. The space turd is one of the only ships that looks better in premium.

/end /LUA:OFF i believe that is the commands you are looking for to cause eve to save all the data to the eve folder just add them to the end of the shorcut

I do kinda agree that some ships look better than in the prem system.
The vindicator for example in space on the classic version looks way more defined and distinguishable from the mega.
This mainly due to the color of the systems i think which can make the mega look black-ish most of the time in the prem system. ___________________________ My video Way of the Warrior : Gladiator |

im not trying to say prem graphics are crap btw but tbh i think what ccp achieved with the classic graphics with what they had at their disposal was a 10/10. what they achieved with the prem graphics was very ho-hum.
