So basically, I have me a usb headset.
Problem is. I cant get my sound move between sound devices. I am using a laptop, and as such dont have the headset plugged in all the time. Basically, what I need is a small program to replace vistas basic sound management with something that will let me move sounds between devices...
For instance. I launch TF, and start playing.. one of my friends join, so i figure ill plug in my headset to chat. The sound unfortunatly stays coming from my laptop speakers, even though the mic works fine. I want to me able to alt tab and set it so that TF sounds come from my headset now, instead of my speakers.
Any help from the OOPE general knowledge crew?

Right what you should do is go into the sound options and set your headset as deafault but youll have to plug the headset in before you start up TF, that should solve it :)

and then when i take out my headset, id have to restart firefox again to get my sound back...

WELCOME TO COMPUTERS, FRIEND.
There's no way around that due to the way drivers work, so get used to knowing what you'll want to use beforehand. 族---族

I wish to inquire the following, do you naturally assume that it will work after you plug it in as it is a usb device or do you think there might be a process called 'setting up'?
I hope that isn't too personal for you to answer.

... Huh? as a 'plug and play' device it works when i plug it in. stuff like steam switches sounds to use the headset when i change it to default... I dont understand what your talking about with setting up. Please explain.

Edited by: Amberfyre on 01/01/2009 22:42:22 basically.
The software will recognize your headset when it initially starts (usb through drivers loaded when you plug and play), afterwards it turns dumb.
E.G when you plug it in after you start TF or what ever the software is thinking your running normal settings **see below**
If you were using a normal Input/Output headset it wouldn't care as it already outputs the sound by default thru your speakers/headphone jacks, I assume (ASSUME) your laptop has got a mic onboard and is picking up your sound, not your headset.
Dude just get a normal jack input headset. Roger Banjo |
