Well I finally finished my Kestrel paper model. Took longer than I expected (had a slight Warhammer Online detour) but it's done now.
Made of card stock and is about 2.5 feet from tip to tip.

That is very impressive. Could you give us some insights into how you got the dimensions for it? How you set about building it?

I start by extracting the models from the actual Eve files using triexporter. I fiddle with the texture mapping in blender, then I use an application called Pepakura that takes the raw model and unfolds it into a printable version.
Pepakura isn't that smart, so you have to basically assemble the ship all over again (sometimes poly by poly) in order to get a print out that doesn't look like a jumbled mess.
Once you have the print out, it is fairly straight forward as long as you use pepakura as a guide to what flap goes where.
Once I get a major piece assembled, I go over it a second time to emphasize the details you see in the game that you get from the specular mapping.
At the end, I glaze the entire ship with spray enamel to give it a plastic/metal look.

I think that the "ta da" is the understatement of the year! Those models are the best cardstock ones I have seen - they certainly look better than the models produced from plastic kits. Excellent work :)

That is extremely impressive,Im amazed at how much detail has gone in to the smallest of the humps and bulges.
May I ask how long it took from start to finish, and also just the assembly time alone?
