Edited by: Tank CEO on 03/01/2009 10:00:29 In my world, implants are fairly rough to lose, being that I do not like to leave my +5 implant set. Making corpses salvageable would make eve that much better. Would make PVP alittle more profitable and would add something more to piracy. This is where the implant scanner would come in. Having the ability to scan implants would further increase the desire to ransom then kill someone. Any objections? I hope not. Sign it if you agree!

Edited by: Allahs Warrior on 03/01/2009 11:43:54 So you're hoping to get some of your implants back after dying by going to grab your salvage ship after you get podded?
I mean I'd love to make pirating more profitable, but this would just increase podding, not the number of pirates. Don't really see how this would add to the game for everybody. Right now podding is more a diss than anything really effective in lowsec, and in 0.0 or whatever it's somewhat of a secondary thing, made to either keep pods from getting into your space, or to keep them from scouting, or kill any possible pirate implants.
Sure some clones are expensive, but not really.
I think less podding is good for EVE, as in some cases (I had one) if you get podded before you make it to a clone station, you've lost a good amount of skills. You'll lose less implants if podding is more of a bad thing than a good one. I think the devs want to keep podding (especially in sec space) something completely unprofitable.

If you manage to lose skillpoints in eve because you don't have an up-to-date clone, that is no one's fault but your own.
I think implants should be salvageable, but it should take a quite a long time to do and can only done in the original place where the corpse dropped. i.e. For those sickos that have 600 corpses stashed in the hangar, they can't get anything from them.

No. Implants should not be salvagable. If, at all, then you should only be able to retrieve parts to build implants, like you get parts to build rigs when you salvage wrecks, but instead of salvaging wrecks you'd have to salvage corpses. Oh, and it should take a lot of corpses to make a decent implant!

except I joined a corp in 0.0, then was tricked and banned by that corp after I updated my clone to be there, and I had to make it to an NPC clonestation without being podded, and lost all my stuff except one ship.
I guess it's still sort of my fault? But I had no reason not to trust them and they were just doing it for ****s, not a personal vendetta at all.

What are you talking about, podding is part of the game and the most sought thing to do especially for pirates and in 0.0. I could care less about the ship kill, I want the pod.
I don't keep corpses because they clutter my hanger and my assets list which I like to have to a minimal of 2 - 3 stations.
If wrecks can be salvageable then so should corpses.

CCP are planning to put the production of implants into the hands of the players. That means the raw materials have to come from somewhere. Maybe you'll get what you ask for...in a sense. |

Good thread Tank
I remember the devs talking about this as an actually profession awhile back and it was in "the drawing board section" of the website. It was going to allow the retrieving of implants. In one of the dev blogs, or it was a dev chat (don't remember for sure) they were talking about how it would work. The idea was if you had a set of +4's in your head when you died the best that could be retrieved would be +4's but that it was be skill based with a percentage modifier. Just like the current salvage system is. So lets use the following as an example of what they were talking about.
Reclaimer skill (Rank 10) Proficiency at retrieving implants from the recently dead. Required skill for the use of (new module). 5% increase in chance of implant retrieval per level. Can only be done in stations. Corpses over 30 days old can not have implants retrieved. 50% chance of success at level 5. Can not be trained on trial accounts.
Skill Dependencies:
* Primary Skill: Science (Rank 1) - Level 4 * Secondary Skill: Biology (Rank 1) - Level 5 * Secondary Skill: Cybernetics (Rank 3) - Level 5
Level 1 30% Level 2 35% Level 3 40% Level 4 45% Level 5 50%
I am not sure if that is how they meant it but that is how I understood it. Either way, it is something that would be welcomed to eve.

yep, will also increase # of suicide ganks to smaller ships, you wont see any more frigates or shuttles flying around since they are about as tough as aluminum foil, its so easy to pop a frigate w/ just a few smarties, and dont even mention shuttlecraft

u are talking about scanning the implants in corpses and unplugging them out... but implants are destroyed when unplugged... so u would need to change that first before your idea gets implemented... and i don't think that should be changed www.save-evetv.com |

Yeah. Remove all hardwires and implants from LP stores. Make new implant sets for the empires to put up there instead. Make an icon on the hud for corpses. Make a salvager of sorts for corpses. Salvage "biomass". Seed bpo's for all hardwires and implants. That would be awesome.
