So what about the players that don't use the top 4 crusiers? Are they to wait another 1-2 months for changes?
No thank you.
Besides it's better to balance a class of ship all together instead of piece meal.

The Moa 'Shield Boosting' bonus is a horrible idea. I'd threaten to recycle my Moa if they put it in, but I don't own one.
Change it to a +5% per lvl to all shield resistances bonus.

horrible? its awesome, at L5 you could forgo a shield amp if you were using one and fit a cap recharger2 or tracking comp for some real long range plinking..or add one and get some great HP's. one of the best matched bonuses they did..
its almost like getting a 5th mid slot for alot setups..
anyway... back to work

Edited by: Braddict on 09/08/2004 18:44:51 Perhaps I don't understand the bonus correctly then. It's my understanding 'Shield Boosting' is termed after the use of shield boosting modules that are used in shield tanking. So for example, if a Moa is using a medium shield booster, 60 shield points per boost, at lvl 5 cruiser the Moa would receive a extra 15 points per boost.
If that's the way it works, then imo it's hardly worth the 30 days required to train from lvl 4 to 5 cruiser.

yeh, i think the moa second bonus is WAY underpowered tbh. i mean, you cant fit much more than a medium to a moa, so thats only 25% of 60 = 15... and for that, your going to train 30 days? i think not. a shield resistance bonus would be much better. (it would also be much more suitable for many other caldari ships, i think the scorp would do well from it instead of the crappy missile velocity thing...)

If the reason for giving it optimal range bonus is a good one i might reconsider my opinion .
After thinking about it a bit I'm ok with the Optimal range bonus. This will let you replace the 720s with 650s and still have the same range. Then you can use the grid that frees up to replace a RCU with a Ballistic Control to get more damage.

I still think its wrong that the thorax has a larger drone bay then the vexor and the arbitrator both of which are specifically drone carriers.
I mean, I fly a thorax atm, without drones as I cant use them, and It to me is one of the most damaging cruisers in the game, and thats WITHOUT heavy drones! im going to be shocked once I start using heavy drones I bet. ................. |

true. but how many people have tech 2 mediums? not a lot as a proportion of the game. i'm not saying its not good. i just think that a shield resistance bonus would be more suitable. /shrug.

So the Caracal gets a nerf and the Thorax does not, lmfao. The reason for the initially suggested nerf of the Thorax is an indication of the devs acknowledgement that the Thorax is overpowered. Is balance important in this game? Many people say that it should not be a factor, yet the devs hithertofore have made many attempts to approach some semblance of balance. At half the drone bay, the Thorax was described as the most powerful cruiser. It also has the distinction of being a bigger Drone Carrier, than the Gallente drone ship. These things are all ass backwards, and I am tired of everyone fawning before and constantly protecting their flying *****s.

how is the caracal getting nerfed? The 2nd bonus wasnt there to begin with, and the new second bonus just so happens to kick ass, considering you can hit with light missiels from 32km now, and with heavy missiles from 72km... I dont see that as a nerf. ................. |

Thorax IS the gallente drone ship. read its description.
I'd like to make a comment on the arbitrator. I think it needs a bonus to replace the 10% reduction in laser cap usage, as it only has 2 turrets. I'm thinking either the same bonus as the augoror, or the same bonus as the Maller. Its description labels it as an armored drone carrier, so it would fit the description, in addition to giving it some use. Its not doing alot of damage at all, giving it some defensive options would be a great idea, though. It sounds to me like its a poor offensive cruiser but can take alot of punishment. So I'm thinking either 5% boost to all armor resistances, or 10% boost to max armor. In addition to the +1 drone control.

No you are training to lvl5 for the extra 5% to shield boosting and 10% to hybrid optimal range.
You don't have to only use a medium shield booster...
And tech2 boosters are cheap anyway.
