I trade in Navy Insignia/Tags (the little dog tags that drop from dead navy ships that contain their bounty). The prices of these tags are usally stable. There have been some fluxations of late due to game changes. For instance when the new shield dead space drops began the price of tags relating to faction shield manufacture dropped as people were hesitant to compete untill the true nature of the market was revealed. Tag prices have also been influnced upwardly by Incursion farming as Incursion farming creates loyalty points but does not generate tags, so brings me to my question...
Why have Imperial General II's prices crashed? They have went from 2.5m to 1.1m. I can't explain it, no other tag has crashed like this so why just imperial II's? Will they rise again? Should I invest at 1.1m? |

I can only speculate as to the reason, but I suspect that the meta 0 loot removal is playing into this. Mission runners that would normally loot aren't going to loot any more, so they're cashing out now and temporarily increasing supply. Alternatively, it could be that mission runners are getting out of running altogether because of the changes, so less demand = lower prices. Yet another alternative is that mission runners are hoarding loot now so they can sell at a better price later and flooding the market with tags.
It could also be that FW mission runners are hoarding LP to dump into datacores when they get added to their LP stores and putting the tags they loot on the market, but as I've never done FW I'm not sure if that would increase supply enough to explain the price drop.
As to whether you should invest or not, it depends on if you think the prices are going to bounce back up or stay where they are (or keep going down, IIRC the NPC buy order price for those is 750k). Another thing to consider on this point is that, at least on the test server, they moved the faction modules to the regular market. If they keep it that way for Inferno, we should see module prices decrease but sales volume pick up some, and that could lead to an increase in tag prices.
So, overall, you have to try to figure out which of the multitude of possibilities it is and bet on whichever you think is most likey . |

This is the only thing you said that could explain a drop in one tag but not the others. Hmm. I don't think meta changes have anything to do with it. Also less mission runners = higher tag prices as incursion farmers will always need tags to cash in LP from unless they go to concord LP store.
I'm pretty sure it's the data core and hopefully we're going to see data cores needing lots of tags :) :) :) :). When will CCP announce the cost in LP and tags for data cores? |

For sure that's the reason, so many players running FW to store up LP to buy data cores they are flooding markets with excess tags. So now tags are cheap but surely they will bounce back hard when these players realise they need the tags to buy the cores off LP store? Unless they know allready that tags are not needed to buy cores and if that is the case does anyone have a link to their cost.
Or would a ccp dev like to reveal how much LP and insignia will be req'd to buy cores? |

Ahh! Right, forgot about that.

To be honest, I don't think they're going to use tags. They'll probably be like implants and only need LP and isk. I do wish they would announce that info too because on the off chance they do need tags, both those tags and the datacore themselves will skyrocket =)
On a side note: I just checked a couple of markets and I'm not seeing what you're seeing. Sell at about 1.7-1.8, buy at about 1.5-1.6.

See it's info like this that is leaked by CCP devs to certain players that give them a huge advantage in speculation. How can anyone say that the cores will not need tags without first reciving info from a CCP dev through a closed channel. This info should be made public knowledge with an announcment at a certain time so that everybody has a fair chance to invest and not just pet players getting the heads up. |

Several Inperial Navy Insignia, including Imperial General IIs are farmed in a static hidden high security complex. There are people that sit in this complex for hours in Rattlesnakes and harvest them like produce.
I can only speculate more people have recently learned about this "secret" and it is driving prices down.
I am involved in the Insignia market but i would not go near Imperial General IIs.

Well there are 2 more simple and 1 compound factor that will all directly influence the prices of tags used for crafting.
1. Incursions, are the biggest consumer of these tags, lets face it, every one who's done more then 50 hours of incursions has seen a shiny ship or more, go down, modules destroyed.
2. LP changes, will seed the eve market place with MORE lp, thus more tags will be consumed as people craft their own gear, lose it and then use some more.
3. Compound, Incursion runners will be more inclined to run missions now, creating more LP, creating more Incursion gear on the markets, but don't worry, Inflation will not allow prices to fall, people have invested heavily and people are not willing to sacrifice their beloved shiny ships for half of what its worth to them, they will in fact, spend money to buy more shiny ships they have become accustomed to flying, including fittings that use LP, its a surprisingly stable platform to invest for small but steady gains. |
