Technically speaking, how hard would it be to remove all of the color (nebulas, dust, etc) and just have stars and black space. If anyone knows the technical info and could explain it I would appreciate it. Thanks

EVE is not a cold, dark universe.
------ I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it. |

That would involve modifying the client.. Which as we all know (or should do by now.)
Is not allowed. So I'm afraid you will have to endure the pretty colours the same as the rest of us.

Something a lot of players have wanted for a long time. A checkbox on the setup that could turn them off and leave just black space would be awesome. We can chose to have them on or off as we prefer.

Also, according to the backstory, gates only work in systems with at least 2 stars.
Ever seen a system in eve that has more than 1? ... and I really think they should boost T2 plate HP.

There used to be a bug that removed all nebulae from space... EVE has never been as beautiful again as it was before the bug was fixed. ---- Selling lots of shadow serpentis items) |

I'd support a switch to do this. The backgrounds are very pretty indeed, and I could understand having them for systems that're located in nebulae. After all, New Eden is an enormous expanse - bits of it could be in all sorts of places.
But...
I would like to see a darker EVE... I know the game doesn't really bother with physics, as a rule, but I'd love to see things lit in the sun, dark otherwise, ships lit by exterior lights, and so on. It would add a lot of... um... atmosphere...

Edited by: Maria Kalista on 07/01/2009 10:48:56 A bit less illumination would help. Always wondered why EVE is trying to burn my retinas away, especially after a hangover its hard to find a nice piece of darkness on my screen. >.<
And if you've been to Amarr you'd wonder if people there get day/ night cycles, since its so ****ing bright all the time.

well first the IC answer: the cameradrones the podpilots use can see background radiation. we see it as colours in the background.
oc answer: its pretty and make more people stay in eve after a first look.
all that said i would like it to be an option to turn them on and of.

New Eden is one. 30m isk plz
Also to the OP: Just close your eyes. All the black space you want.
Just so you know, the eve cluster isn't a galaxy but a rather dense cluster of stars within a galaxy. Thay's why there's tons of nebulas etc around

I often have the same thought as the OP.
A few nebulae is ok. But most of space should be black or stars.

Turn off your monitor. Immediately black space.
Btw. skyboxes are due for a overhaul along with asteroids and planets, it's all of the ongoing gfx overhaul started with Trinity.

This is ignorance. At the distance that binary stars orbit the only diffrence between that and all other stars in the viewfield would be that it's brighter, NOT BIGGER. |

Please don't make sweeping statements, Centauri AB are between what, 15 and 35AU to each other?
Plenty small enough to be seen as 2 stars :P |
