Ok just got into my first BS ( a scorp ) yesterday, This is my first setup not for PvP. What do u think?
High Slots: 2x425mm rails - Thorium 4xCruise missle launchers - Paradise and Catalysmn
Med Slots: XL Shield Booster Ballistic Deflection Heat Disipation Named ( explosive )hardener Large Shield Extender Medium Regolith Shield Extender ( 480hp) 2x named Cap Batteries
Low Slots: Magnetic Field Stabilzer 2x Co-Processors 1's Ballistic Control System
My shield is around 7200hp with this setup, I need the CO-processors in order to fit everything there, It seems ok to me, What do u think?
Thanks

I can't even fly a BS but if you want to be cost-effective when shooting NPCs, maybe you should use more turrets and less missiles.

Definitly ditch that medium extender for an EM hardener

If you don't wanna get ganked at a belt buy us pirate types you might wanna consider fitting a warp core stabaliser or two. Just a suggestion I would prefer it if you didn't

Edited by: Voltex on 28/07/2004 13:22:22 lol thanks, just i like my shield to be as big as pos, i see the benifits in having an EM hardener ( 50% against all types overall ) and if i ditch my co-processors i would have to make changes to the setup ( get rid of large extender ). Edited by: FuPhal on 28/07/2004 13:27:46 Doesnt matter how big ure shields are, when ure getting hit by EM missiles/torps which u have 0 resists to, cruise missiles will do about 4-500 damage each and god knows what torps do without resists :/ the extra 480hp u get from that extender will last u 1 extra missile.
If ure sure u wanna keep that extender then u might wanna swap a ballistic or explosive hardener for an EM hardener
EM hardener will only boost ure EM resist ( Electro Magnetic ) Nearly all ships have 0 resist as standard to this damage type where as all ships have some decent resist to the other damage types.
EM damage comes from various things
Mjolnir torpedoes Paradise cruise missiles + fof variety with diff name Sabretooth light missiles + fof variety with diff name rocket... ( dont know that name ) EM projectile ammo Microwave laser crystals..
If i was to fit just 1 hardener to a ship for general use it would be an EM hardener

personally, for a scorp i go either extreme long range or uber sheild tank
long range: 3x named 425s 3x cruise luanchers 4x tracking comps (best u can get) 1x sensor booster 2x hardeners (the large bs spawns tend to slip a bs into its opt range before i can finish it) 1x named XL 1x rcu 2x tech 2 hyb dmg mods 1x ballistic ctl
get about 115km from the spawn and have fun. Fairly boring and takes a little while to kill spawns, but pretty safe. Keep pointed twords a safe place to warp to. Only tested against serpentis and blood raiders.
uber tank: 2x 425 4x seige luanchers 3x named hardener of main dmg type of npc 2x named hardeners of secondary dmg type of npc 1x sheild amp 1x named xl sheild booster 1x large extender 4x power diags
all you need to know about this one is that guardian commodres wreck for around 18.9 dmg and you should have around 10k sheilds
Ofc for both use tech 2 or named wherever possible. Both fit with electronics 5 eng 5 and weapons upgrades 4. Might not even need elec 5.

Hmmm... that setup won't save you from anything tbh :P
For a tanked setup you might want something more like this..
4x siege launchers 2x 425mm rails
XL shield booster shield boost amp em ward thermal ward kinetic ward 3x cap recharger II's
lows: whatever you need to fit the above setup. if you can, one warp core stab or two... you shouldn't fit hybrid damage mods for only 2 guns, waste of low slots. you'd better put in some power diags
personally I prefer turrets for npc, but I hear the missiles are very good against them, and not as expensive as they used to be. You should use siege launchers, the cruise launchers are crap due to very high rof and their inability to use torps. The torp works wonders against npc.. my friend even took out a commander in his raven faster than his buddys on apocs can take down 1 mill pirates.

Edited by: Koda on 28/07/2004 21:05:43 Being completely silly, I ran a NPC Scorp set up with 4 Ion Blasters, 2 Heavy Nosf's, Thermal/Kinetic hardeners (for Serpentis), XL booster, Amp, web tracking comp and 2 cap rechargers.
GREAT for killing Enforcers. Not so good for the Executors (which always ran away) .
And train up shield management and Caldari BS for big shields on a Scorp.

There is no place for a medium shield extender on a battleship, even the large ones aren't worth much in my opinion.
Also remember that large cap batteries don't give you enough extra cap to give you a recharge bonus greater than a cap recharger 2 or even a nice named cap recharger 1. Large Cap batteries are crap, wait for tech 2 large cap batteries to show up, or x-large cap batteries.
