I know it sounds stupid but this has completely killed my enjoyment of this excellent MMO. I'm trying to organize all of my windows and pin them down but they keep shifting around. They won't overlap. They keep trying to snap together and resize every time I open a new window. I really hope I'm missing something because this is driving me insane. Any ideas? |

It's a subgame or CCP has some cack developers, your choice.

Edited by: James McAurthur on 19/01/2009 20:43:39 It wasn't the answer I was hoping for but if this is something unavoidable then at least I know that every EVE player deals with it. I can live with that. |

This "feature" is quite possibly the single most annoying thing in Eve. Welcome to my hell. |

Did you patch and older build?
IE downloaded non current full build from somewhere and applied the patch when connecting first time.
I found with myself this was the biggest cause of it.
come patch days, I give myself 48hrs off and go fish, come back, back up my settings folder, uninstall the old build, download the full version new client and I am away free. |

I originally downloaded the client during Empyrean Age. I stopped playing for a couple months and just downloaded it again a couple days ago. I uninstalled EVE and reinstalled it with the Quantum Rise client. It should have the most recent patch. I'll try changing the snap distance.

If you patch without having the backup done of settings (just in case) then it may corrupt and you will have to start over again remodelling the way you like your personal settings

Windows are working as intended.
Its supposed to be a game you play before you undock to get you ready for the terrible UI problems to come.

Arrange the windows the way you'd like them. Lock them. Then turn off window snapping entirely. |

Thankyou for bringing this up. I thought it was something that couldn't be sorted. I've tried the fixes suggested (snapping etc) and so far so good on one relog. Just figured it was something I'd have to put up with but was never that bothered to bug report it! Thanks for those that submitted solutions too.

Either turn off snapping, or set it to the lowest value and then get your window borders to overlap by 1 pixel, they'll stay aligned to the edge of the screen just fine, but won't mess up with each other. |

This. I'm not entirely sure why CCP decided to change the "pin" feature so that it wouldn't actually pin the god damn windows in place by default, but there is an option to do it. ---
