Here's a fun social experiment...go outside into a crowd on a cold winter evening/night, breath in through your nose real loud, and pronouce: "Man, my nose sure is stuffed up."
Now close your eyes and listen and see if you can count how many people "check" their stuffiness. 
Ahh...How I love the power of suggestion...

And in the end it turns out that the social experiment was to ask for people to help with a social experiment and see what kind of responses he got.

Highest bidder gets say, 200,000 ISK.
Second highest bidder has to pay whatever their bid was.
It's a fun social experiment. [Although it relies on honesty, or the ability to force the second highest bidder to pay.]
