Apparently it was possible to watch parts of this tournament. But perhaps only for selcted players, hmm? How do you access tv viewing? Is it a secret? Put the directions or link out so it's not an egg hunt.
Disappointed I missed the show. Someone's asleep at the switch it seems. Making things much harder than they need to be.

Edited by: Abraen on 24/01/2009 19:46:14 Thank you for the information. Now don't you think it might have been helpful for that information to be put in the advertising for the tournament? Many others apparently were under the impression that the matches were going to be televised. I am clearly not the only uninformed player. That information should have been given. Hmm?
Eve is a great game, however, I think the Eve team needs some help in fully informing their players about circumstances involving the tournament. Having tv access has become a disappointment because it was EXPECTED to be available. If not available then INFORM the players. Don't ASSUME they know this.

The lack of tv coverage should have been given in the sticky: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=980117
Wouldn't one think a comment about the lack of tv coverage would have been informative, helpful and germane?

All the sticky tells you is the listening sources for the tournament. It says nothing about viewing the tournament. It is an important enough issue to have merited a comment such as, "We regret that tv coverage will not be avaialable until the final match." Or someting to that effect. I was in-game and someone mentioned that the match was available on tv and I just got a bad url message. This is just an example to failing to fully explain an important event. What is being provided is as important as what is not being provided.

If you read further, it mentions Live TV for the finals. That it is mentioned for the finals but NOT for the qualis should give you a hint, no?

Yes, a hint. But why are so many people confused about the lack of coverage? All I'm saying is EVE should do a more thorough job of explaining the lack of tv coverage. This is not the only thread questioning its absence. Add the sentence indicating that coverage is not being provided. This eliminates misunderstandings and disappointment.

Maybe you (and everyone else complaining) should explain why you're not paying for TV coverage of the first two weekends. Or the whole tourney for that matter.

I'm only seeing one person here who is actually confused. Perhaps if "all these people" opened their eyes, maybe they "all" would have been able to figure it out. Hmm? |

If you want to say it that way, fine. Nevertheless, a good communique about the tournament would have addressed us lower life forms, as well. So, yes explain that tv coverage would commence later in the tournament and is not available for the current rounds. It will improve the provided information for the tournament. Perhaps you could post in the other threads and let the other morons see it as well. |

The "other morons" and threads are about the fact that the qualifying rounds are not displayed on EveTV and not about people not knowing that it wont be broadcasted - there is the difference.
Of course maybe some reasons could be given / explained why there is no video stream - I can imagine the bandwidth costs / then again up2date HD videos on CCP youtube site could have been nice alternative. |

Probably because they did not calmly read the sticky and think what it means, but believed in rumors and hand-waving and what they hoped was the case. -- Help us defend the Republic; join Gradient today. |

When buying a car, it is obviously assumed that nukes are included, the doors are made of a titanium alloy, and the engine can run on pepper.
So, when being given information on the radio for the tourney, it is so obvious that there should be a video stream aswell, because no one said anything about it!

To the little forum troll that posted the sticky link did you care to notice that it is "Posted - 2009.01.22 21:18:00" Some of us actually have RL and don't spend every waking hour trolling the forums. CCP should have said at the outset in nice bold print when they first announced the tournament rules. Oh that's right the rules posted on the sticky back in November implied there would be video.

Amazing the number of pathetic tools out there that are actually making excuses for CCP's bad management choices. Makes one wonder what your real jobs are? Employees of CCP me thinks. To qoute something I read in another thread concerning the lack of video:

Troll. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Why are you so upset that the most recent news is the most accurate? Actual statements will always trump "implications." It evens says in the main announcement on the front page how to access the audio feed. No mention of a video feed should be a pretty good indication that there isn't one. You, and the OP seem to be the type of people that are the reason for warning labels on cups of hot coffee. You need the painfully obvious spelled out for you.

What, state something that wasn't even set in stone yet? Seems to me like they took the best course of action.

Cameras do not mean a broadcast. I think most people who read the rest of the announcements could understand that there would only be video for the finals.

For someone who thinks they are more grounded in "RL" than other people, you sure seem to be upset by not being able to watch the qualifying rounds for internet spaceships.
