Due to the drop in VAT in the UK are we due a refund of the VAT we have been paying on our Eve sub? |

I'd rather they never dropped the VAT in the first place.
As that's the point, retailers aren't changing their bloody prices anyway.
Loss in billions of tax revenue, for either no purchase change, or a pittance.

Companies in countries in the EEA (or whatever it's called these days) can charge the VAT rate of the country they're based out of instead of the VAT of the country where the customer lives. You're paying Icelandic VAT. |

According to HMRC you pay the VAT rate of where you live not the company that supplies you. |

For physical good.
EVE is Digital Goods with no Real World Tangibale value.
Also, "Her Majesty" can go stick it where the sun don't shine.

As has been said, that only applies to physical goods. You can read here that "VAT on services is paid at the place where the service has been supplied. This will most often, but not always, be where the service supplier is established."

Eve is an Electronically Supplied Service and as such is subject to VAT. UK law goes on to state that the place of supply of services is the plalce where a service is treated as being supplied. This is the place where it is liable to VAT. As the servers that run the game are in the UK, does this mean we do get charged 15%?

Two things:
1) Please provide a link. I linked to a site from the European Commision, a link which was also used by Wrangler here. You have provided nothing to support your claim.
2) CCP is providing their service from Iceland. Where they get the stuff to provide that service (UK/US/China) is irrelevant.

Retailers are dropping prices and it's a pain in the rear.
I'm sick of buying stuff that costs ú3.73 and being left with pockets full of coppers.

Sod the 2% you'll get back - because the Euro's gone down from Ç1.11 to the pound to Ç1.04 to the pound, you're actually going to be paying 6% more for your subscription this month! That mean's you'll be paying about ú1 more than last month (even assuming an absolutely ideal exchange rate, it's 91p). Even if CCP refunded you, the effective saving for you in VAT for this month (again on an ideal exchange rate) would be 2p.

I might be wrong, but since CCP doesnt charge UK players in UK Sterling and instead use Euro, then our VAT Rate has nil impact on price.
But should have an impact on the price its charged at in the shops, however many retailers arnt passing on the vat reduction.

Unless the drop is retroactive (which would be a historical thing), no. You payed for and received the service at the going price, so why would you get a refund? ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Naturally you may require medical services after your hooker and blow.. how much does that cost you because here in the UK it's pretty much free.
Not that I like paying VAT or anything, but, USA != WIN for the reason of sales taxes.

On a 15 euro /mnth subscription, change would be less than 32 euro cents.
I very much doubt that CCP are going to be changing their prices to reflect this. They'll probably up their price a little bit just to keep the overall number at the same level. That's what most shops do.
The change is not retroactive, so any charges made previous to 1st December last year will remain unchanged.
And to whoever said about 15% tax, no... we pay (currently) 15% on the majority of things we buy, and about 22-25% on our earnings. Sucks, no?

Again a very definitive but completely unsourced statement. "Something tells you" that I'm wrong, while I simply quoted the European Commission. Note that the very short quote I provided clearly says "where the service supplier is established." Now please provide some credible source (other than your guts) which says that a server cluster is an exception to that rule.
