I'm just starting out...but I'm looking forward to engagements. But I have two small ships...nothing really battle worthy.
*side note* I'm in the military and I've been in fleet engagement drills. They're not as fun as I hope these to be.

I assume that means you are RL Navy? I was too (U.S. Navy). Good for you and thank you for being someone who helps keep other people safe.
Fleets (and gameplay in general) can be awesome, but here are a few pointers:
1.) Pick your fights
2.) Keep your eyes and ears open for good FCs (Fleet Commanders)
3.) There is tons of good info on these forums (especially the PvP and Faction Warfare specific threads)
4.) Ask for help when you need it
If you are a newbie, don't worry about it. We all started at one time too. Helpful people will come out of the woodwork, mostly from within when you get yourself hooked up with a good player corp or a Faction Warfare corp.
One last thing, never underestimate the power of a frigate fleet. If you have graduated up from the newbie ships, getting into a well run op (about 10-20 frigates) with an experienced FC will prove it to you. Look into Agony Unleashed once you have some coin in you jeans. Their training classes will be the most productive thing to get you moving in the right direction to becoming a formidable pilot.

Yes. I'm still in the service. Been in for about 10 yrs. I have hopes of learning more about EVE. Go up the ranks and then, strike out with a nice fleet. Any help you can offer Dirk, is greatly appreciated. *hand salute*

Great tool. Haven't really gotten to test it much, but I hope to be able to this weekend.
