Orca, Mobile Base
HIGH: Scan Probe Launcher I Prototype Cloaking Device I Your Favorite Warfare Link I
MID: 2x LSE II 2x Invuln Field II
LOW: 2x Expanded Cargohold II
RIG: 3x Cargohold Optimization I
The idea is you'd round up a few of your friends and use this as a mobile base for your wormhole exploration needs. You'd jump through into a wormhole system, anchor a few cans at an SS for people to store their loot / crap in.
The Orca itself would serve as the main exploration platform. Its probe launcher is unbonused but would get the job done. It would carry a shuttle or three in its maint. bay, these would mainly serve to check the far sides of wormholes and recon dicey exploration hits before sending the big defenseless subcap there.
When your op is over, or you want to move to a different system, you just make sure everyone is online, scoop your cans, and go on to the next system. |

What is the orca has a wormhole collapse mass of 10 and the wormhole has a collapse index of 5?
That means as soon as you jump in a huge ship like an orca, the wormhole collapses... |

a good idea but there is a slight problem in the fact that wormholes are mass based, you ma end up having to look for multiple openings and somehow find each other again, I think that only some wormholes will be capable of letting a few battleships through before collapsing let a lone an orca. Though if your gang is made up of t2 frigates you might be able to squeeze it all in, we'll all find out when the expansion comes I suppose. |

well one benefit with the orca would be your friends can go in pods if your willing to just use mainly assault frigs. |

Edited by: Jacob Holland on 27/01/2009 13:40:48 I doubt that ships in Ship Maints won't count to the total mass transit...
If they don't of course then jumping the Orca in with the rest of the op in shuttles does make a great deal of sense...
Though if you can get into range then jumping a Cynofrig in sounds like a much more sensible suggestion :-)
Jumping in a Carrier or two wouldn't effect the stability of the wormhole after all :-) If you can find a system in a reasonable place of course that makes POS operation far more straightforward as you can simply log a cynoalt off at the POS and jump fuel out... the inability to gain sovereignty means of course that you can't use a POS mounted cynogen.

Yup, but there is a one small problem with your suggestion - the banhammer. It is bannable exploit even if you will find a way to do it. |

I will be doing wormhole exploration with double Ishtar setup. No ammo required, can salvage and even snatch some loot. Might get Viator too.
I just can't wait to get more details about how much is the mass limit for ships to enter.
This will be excellent year for all of us
