i got a sacrilege, and i have noticed a few pirates, mostly flying pilgrams. what would be the best course of action to counter any give pilgram? electronic warfare seems out of the question. sooo pack as much punch and have a warp scrambler?

Plug your thermal hole, buffer tank, load thermal missiles into the launchers and hope for the best. __________________________________

Don't fully buffer tank your sac. Plate w/one rep is better. With 400 charges you can still get cap to feed your rep.
Nos hard counters neut ships. So stick a nos in your last top slot.
Web and scram the pilgrim and sit at around 9km shooting him with heavy assault missiles. Keep your drones on his drones, whenever he recalls his drones, do the same with yours. His dps won't ever break your tank.
Don't shoot him with thermal imo. He has the same number of low slots as you do and almost certainly plugged the thermal hole, just as you likely did. Kin is probably best.
He uses heavy amounts of cap to run reps/neuts especially with your nos and your cargo hold is nearly 2x as large. This should be an easy fight for the sac.

Actually a sac would be my ship of choice to fight a pilgrim.
A pilgrim gets a bonus to neuts/nos and tracking disruptors and a sac is one of the few amarr ships to use missiles - so you're rather immune to neuts and completely immune to tracking disruptors.
I'd personally fit a passive buffer tank, some high DPS close range missiles (the pilgrim neeeds to be within 10 k to be able to neut) and fit a smartbomb (since drones are the only way for a pilgrim pilot to deal some dps).
I personally don't fly sacs as I lack missile skills, but when I'm in a pilgrim, the sac would be one of the ships I'd absolutely never engage - my neuts don't affect the targets DPS - my TD's don't have any effect at all - it has a better tank - I have no chance to outrun its missiles - if the target has a smartbomb fitted, my only means to deal dps (most of the time med drones) will be obliterated
actually a sac would be my ship of choice in a 1v1 vs a pilgrim...

The first rule of Sac Club is: Don't talk about Sac Club.
Oh hey look! Britney Spears is humping a goat! Now what were we talking about? Oh yeah, it's all about the Zealot. It's the new Vaga. Zealot Zealot Zealot!

If you're willing to forego weapon grouping, the Sac gets the benefit of being able to deal rainbow damage initially, and then switch to whatever's appropriate. I would definitely have at least one launcher with thermal HAMs loaded, just so I could check whether the other pilot really has neglected to plug the hole. Even if he has fitted the hardener, you still get to see what his lowest resist is, and how much lower it is than your other options (i.e. whether it's worth the 10 second reload time to switch missile types).
All in all though, you're right that Kinetic will almost certainly be the lowest resist, followed by EM (assuming thermal hardener fitted). It's almost certainly not worth starting out with explosive ammo, since this is the highest native resist on both shields and armour, and the only way it's going to be the best option is some bizarre tri-hardener EM, Therm, Kin setup (which I don't think I've ever seen on a ship).

Take out his drones while you have him tackled. I'd go with a cap injector active tank personally but I have no experience how a buffer tank would handle in this fight.
If you pop his drones there isn't going to be much of anything he can do to you. It's not like he can turn off your weapons either. He'll be pulling his drones in constantly. |

It is possible to fit a specifically against drone ships, versatility is the Sacrilege's biggest advantage. All damage types, big tank, spare midslot, capless weapons - lovely ship.
[Sacrilege] Medium Armor Repairer II 800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Ballistic Control System II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Medium Capacitor Booster I Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I Stasis Webifier II
5x HAMII, True Sansha Small EMP Smartbomb
Once he sees the smartbomb he will be forced to micromanage his drones, all the while being hit by about 300dps. Sacrilege has a massive cargo capacity so it should live as long as you have charges. Can be dual repped as well, but I prefer the buffer.

Just get close to grim, web it, scram and it dies. There is no way for pilgrim to kill sac 1v1 unless sac pilot is stupid. If you are afraid of neuts just keep range at 15k and spam missiles. Grim is slower than sac (base and MWD) and deals less damage + has worse tank.
The "true" skill is killing sac in grim while in 1v1 :)

Edited by: Cpt Cosmic on 01/02/2009 21:27:08 dont plate hacs -.- dictate range with speed and agility. in large fights where you could plate a ship a hac is useless btw. only hac worth plating is the deimost cause cause it is a pure gank ship. |
