With rigs costing as much if not more than the original ship. Also the fact that rigs become part of the ship and can not be seperated without total destruction the insurance available should reflect this. I propose one of two methods :-
1. Increase value of the ship is fully reflected in purchasing ship insurance with the subsequent increase in the cost of that insurance.
OR
2. Seperate rig insurance only redeemable with the destruction of the ship.
What do you think? |

Users tried for years to get Module insurance. Back in the days when T2 Cap Rechargers cost 15 mill each. Never happened though. A rig is pretty much the same as a module. Never going to get insurance. Nice idea though

While I would like to get an increased insurance payout for my rigged ships I feel it would hurt ransom business.
Rigs are a damn good argument to pay the ransom

It would be if pirates didn't blow up everything they can get a lock on. Maybe CCP should work a tutorial into the game to educate future pirate wanna-be's on how to not shoot themselves in the foot.
As for rig insurance, not likely. I think they should do away with all insurance personally.

I personally don't (if the circumstances allow) and many victims with valuable rigged ships are happy to keep them for a small fee.

I think it would be great if CCP made a system for player run insurance companies.

I think this is a bad idea.
The death penalty in EVE has become smaller and smaller over time, although EVE is supposed to be a harsh world. There is no need to almost totally remove it. On the contrary, I'd like insurance to be changed so that insurance fraud isn't viable anymore. Speaking of which, at the moment rigs are the only deterrent regarding calculated self-destruction. It is like Tech2 ships and modules. It's the drawback for premium equipment and for having an edge over your opponent.
I agree that rig costs are a bit strange and high, especially on smaller T1 ships. But that's a different matter and shouldn't be mitigated by insurance. That would be fighting the symptoms instead of the cause. |

Good luck turning a profit. The only time insurance makes money and is still affordable is when the vast majority of policy holders have no claims.
Eve insurance is an npc isk give-a-way. |

Clearly you miss the point of riggs?
Riggs are not just there to be bonuses for our ships. Rigs are in part meant to be ISK-Sinks!
Something has to deflate the Eve economy.

What do you think?
I think that if you open your PS3 and make major mods on it, you void the warrenty. Ship should be the same, rigs should make the ship uninsurable, not increase it's value.

Eaton I disagree warranty is not insurance. If I have a car and add parts to it, like an induction kit, that will invalidate the warranty but I can still insure it and that insurance will increase by adding that kit.
From what I read we either have insurance and can insure all parts or CCP should just forget insurance.
PS some of the richest companies in the world are insurance companies so there is profit in it if the risk is assessed correctly. |

Insurance is there to provide loss mitigation, not loss obliteration.
It is supposed to be expensive to replace a ship. The more you fit on it the more is should cost to replace.
We are likely to see reduced cost rigs added specificly to fit on cheaper ships. We might even see salvage drop rates increased. But I do not expect to see insurance payouts increased.
BTW - if insurance was paid out on rigs, people would use and lose more rigs, causing the price of rigs to increase due to increased demand, likely settling back such that the net loss is about what it is today.

Eve insurance company should be bankrupt by now.
Ban All Insurance, The isk faucet makes ships and mods more expensive for everyone.

why would you need rig insurance, the rigs are cheap to make as is, so go get the BPO's and make them yourself, i mission run everyday and could make about 15 rigs per day if i really wanted to. so i say no insurance for rigs and they are cheap and easy enough to make if you really have to have them, if you can't make them, the too bad you will just ahve to pay someone else for them, and if you don't have the ISK you should not have lost them in the first place.
