Why does everyone have to be at "the same point in a game". There need to be distributions across the entire spectrum of age and capabilities. You don't sit around crying because "aw, damn, I was born in 1975, but there are other people that were born in 1937. I'll never catch up so I might as well just kill myself!". |

The reason I don't go all superrage****edoffdieyarr on these threads is because in most MMOs time played = power, with how much you're willing to grind being the determining factor in how efficiently you turn time into power.
EvE doesn't work that - one of the keys to its longevity - but most rookies expect it to because it's what they're used to. Like I've said in other posts, half of EvE's learning curve is the fact that it's so different from other MMOs that having prior MMO experience is actually a huge handicap here as it leads you to do things that are unproductive or suicidal until you realize it's best to throw all your old assumptions out the window and start from scratch.
I have high hopes for the new player experience come March 10 - I haven't seen it but everytime the CSMs talk about it they rave like lunatics, so it must be at least somewhat decent.

They rave like lunatics because they are Signatures are annoying...kinda like me. |
