The End of the World continues in the chronicle series leading up to the Apocrypha expansion. Life meets life now, and certain presumptions are perhaps unwarranted.

Whoa
So from TEA novel we know Sarum's clone information was doctored with "in mid flight" as it were. Something which is beyond the technology or understanding of the four races at this time.
TEA also established the rogue drones harvesting the isogen-5 mineral, used to power the super weapon.
Now this chron has the super weapon (or a second one) hidden at a rogue drone hive.
Is it possible it was the rogue drones that re-programmed sarum ?
That would be a nice twist, in a kind of way.

Very interesting to see what will happen until March. I seriously doubted that the drones would do anything but what they did. Drones are scary.

I am very unhappy with this chronicle.
It seems way too forced and unlogical.
It feels silly and unrealistic that anyone would believe negotiation with rogue drones is possible, especially when their aggressive nature has proven itself so often already.
It might be reasonable that the Terran superweapon ruptured the fabric of time and space and thereby is the cause of the anomalies.
However, why would Sarum park it right next to the hive and source of Isogen-5? If the factions intel services are worth only a fraction of their budgets they would have shaded the Abbadon permanently. Sarum would have faced a serious risk of giving away the source of her power by moving the ship back to that hive.
Now one could argue that it doesn't matter because the superweapon could just kill anything in it's path anyways. But with he Isogen-5 being described as so extremly voilatile any serious ship to ship combat in the vincinity of the hive would be bear the chance of it's destruction, rendering the superweapon useless once it's cache of Isogen-5 is used up.
Now why would Sarum risk this?

Okay, so now we have the Sisters of EVE investigating the rogue drones who may be in league with the Amarrians.
This is getting better, yes.
Now since we know the Sleepers are involved with the new wormhole space, and that they were experts in VR and related technologies, any chance the drones are somehow their tools? --

More than likely the ship is there to be reloaded, as it's probably a one shot deal.

/Me is jumping up and down of excitement!!! MOAR MOAR MOAAAR!
I was just saying in jove channel last night that the Sleepers hacked into systems so long ago and made the drones rogue. Together with my perfect timing concerning the question which race the new NPCs where going to be and the fact that i was thinking up a story line which involved the sleepers and wormholes etc. over a year ago, i feel like i am having a mindlink with CCP HQ Hope you remember that email from me over a year ago Abraxas, in which i asked for more information about the sleepers etc. Which you denied to give me if anyone is wondering (and rightfully so might i add). I look forward to reading more of this soon! |

Now let's speculate:
That Abaddon is not the original but a copy. When the Empress went to get fuel for her device, the drones there scanned the ship and found out what it could do. Grasping the scope of the device they moved to a Isogen-5 rich star and built a super-titan sized vessel and installed the Abaddon like a gun.
Knowing that when anyone would find the thing on a drone construct would stir up human forces to take it out so they cloaked it. Now there are some people finding it though and things will turn messy. Next will be a Thukker/Blood Raider alliance trying to take the thing out and get blasted to hell (and back and there again for good measure).
Alternatively, Jamyl used her 'upgraded communicative abilities' to either control the drones she got the Isogen-5 from or struck a deal with them for some equal return. Might even have been the trading the gun for the bullets. Whatever it was the drones are providing her with the Isogen-5 she needs.

could it be there is a fight near the hive over the superweapon and when the drone hive pops the explosion is so powerful it is the source of the wormhole phenomena? perhaps the superweapon is fired and the blast feeds on the Isogen 5 stored in the hive producing effects wildly beyond spectacular. |

CCP, the link the front pages has a hyperlink under the name 'Sisters of EVE' which links to the Spiral. Wouldn't it make more sense that it should link to the article (about the organization) in your wiki? |

i have to add, though, that this sounds like 'impossibly-huge mouth of a mad god' syndrome, in terms of writing. just call up hellgremlin the next time you want a decent rogue drone story. i'm sure he'll accommodate.

With the superweapon creating anti-reality in minor amounts, a gargantuan hive full of Isogen-5 funneling it all through a superweapon might create enough anti-reality to rip up space time.
Could even be that the debris of anti-reality resulting from a uncontrolled discharge might be the cause for unstable and random wormholes to appear.
Or it'd show up on Sleeper radar as a EVE gate reactivation and wakes them up and they poke their heads into our space to see what's going on (and be thoroughly dismayed with what they see).
Hell, the superweapon could have been used to collapse the EVE gate to begin with. I mean, colonies, old-world greedy pigs, separatist movement, rebellion, etc. A big expedition fleet coming through the EVE gate and the only way to stop them and to ensure their freedom was to close the gate for good. We'll probably never know.

That was pretty sweet. Looks like the captain failed by applying human logic to a soulless machine. And for what greater good would someone just hand over a super weapon? |

Don't quite buy how the captain (and presumably a majority of the others) so suddenly and drastically "turn from their way" of humanitarians to "peace *making*" persons...
That doesn't quite fit imo... (was "out of character" imo)
Ruined it a bit for me :/
Wish another reason for them wanting/needing/having to take control of the ship/weapon could have been used.
But apart from that little niggle - Good stuff! (as usual)
