I hate to say it but after 54 mil skillpoints of nearly pure gallente combat and drones, I seem to have run out of useful things to train. I have tried nearly everything to keep him pure gallente but it seems that he (perception and willpower heavy attributes) needs to expand his horizons. Since he already has all his gunnery support skills to level 5 I'd like to move on to either Amarr or Minmatar. Missiles (Caldari) seem not worth the training time in comparison to either Amarr or Minmatar. The question I have is should I cross train to Amarr (frig, cruiser, BS size?) or Minmatar (frig, cruiser, BS size?) I may consider doing both if I get feedback along the lines of.. 'Minmatar frigs are the PWNZORS' and 'Amarr cruisers are OMGBBQ!!11one'

I'd say go Minmatar, they complement Gallente nicely where they are lacking (range and speed ships).
The Trasher is a great ship for piracy, vagabond/stabber fleet are good fun and very potent, the Tempest has to be the coolest looking ship around and minnie recons are still quite useful for any gang. |

Caldari ships like the vulture, eagle, falcon, rokh ect are all easy cross trains and useful ships.... mostly.
Although amarr are so OP in places atm a nerf cometh soon so i would be careful. |

Edited by: Merin Ryskin on 03/02/2009 08:51:11 Train Caldari. You already have 54 million SP in solo ships, there are some Minmatar solo/small-gang ships worth getting, but you're investing a lot of SP for something you really already have. On the other hand, Gallente suck for anything other than solo/small gang, so that's what you need to pick up if you want to be a well-rounded character. So, your choice:
Amarr will give you excellent tank/gank ships, but little versatility. We all know the Zealot is pure win, and the battleships are the best for small/medium gangs, while the Curse and Sacrilege will even give you a couple more solo ships. All of your armor skills will be useful, as well as your gunnery (lasers) and drones (Curse, Pilgrim). On the bad side, the support ships are pretty bad, and the frigates (both T1 and T2) and T1 cruisers are pure trash.
Caldari will give you the best fleet ships in the game, period. Cruiser-size missiles are still working just fine, the railboats are the best in their role (Harpy is the best AF, Eagle/Vulture are best anti-support, Rokh is the best fleet battleship), and the ECM ships are the best support ships you can ask for. While they tend to lose a bit in pure gank compared to Amarr, you get much better versatility out of the deal. The bad side is of course skill time, your hybrid and gunnery support skills will transfer, but you'll need to train shield tanking and you'll want to pick up missiles as well if you want to get full benefit from cross-training.
Either one will be a perfectly valid choice, it just depends on whether you expect to be in more medium fights or larger fleet battles. IMO, the scales tip to Caldari, as you can do alright with Caldari or Gallente in a medium-size fight, but Caldari just dominate in fleet battles. -----------

Amarr or Caldari to round out your lrg. scale fleet viability. The choise is:
Curse or Falcon Zelot or Cerberus Apoc or Rokh
The Falcon is a good ship for sure, but the Zelot and Apoc are superior to their Caldari equiv. So its really up to what you are going to have to do as a pilot. Amarr capitals are also very very nice. -----------

I guess I didn't realize how many rail boats that Caldari actually has. Minmatar seem ok but not as useful as I would have hoped. Amarr is also a tough choice with Caldari. By the way, cap ships are already trained up very well for Dreadnaught and Carrier so that is mostly out of the question as well. |

Im minmatar crosstrained to gallente. They end up working out well together...all your gunnery skills fit nicely and your good to fit most of the armour tankers. The shield tanks are a little extra train but its no big deal. If I were you I'd do minmatar or amarr for the same reasons above
Oh and since the nano nerf the mach is not much more than a re-hulled tempest that cost 10x as much to buy. I have one just for the epeen cause they look so darn sexy. |

I encountered the same problem. Originally, I'd planned on only training Gallente, but then ran out of things to train. Given that several Gallente ships use missiles and some also are good for a shield tank, I went with Caldari. I've not been disappointed. |

Edited by: Sidus Isaacs on 04/02/2009 13:32:35 What Merin said really. Tho personally I would spend 1 to 2 months for Amarr ships and lasers, just since it is very easy, and you get some fun out of it with a near instant change, then go to Caldari for something very different and very effective. |
