had a conversation with a friend a few hours ago that is part of an alliance. he pointed out the stuff that the op did.
of course it was a cheap win. no one beat bob to death, they cheesed them out of the game. however they destroyed bob with an in game feature. its not goons fault they pulled the trigger first. I doubt bob would have hesitated to do the same to goons. IF they did have the ability but passed, thats on bob, not goons.
i can't give 2 ****s about either alliance as i have no ties to either. i have no sympathy for bob. unless bob for some reason didn't use spies and other crap i find to be wrong with the game, then i cannot have sympathy as i would have to believe that they would have done the same if given the chance.
its like newscasters trying to drum up sympathy for a dead gang member that was shot on the street. both are a disgrace, both need to just die or clean up their act. BOTH would have shot the other first, second, third and last had they gotten the jump on the other. one killed the other and I'm supposed to care? kill them all and be done with it. so basically i expect goons to fall next.
The problem is that ccp has left this as an in game feature. spying, stealing and cheating are fair game, its the "cold reality of eve" that they feed us. CCP could have fixed the loopholes if it wanted but patching vulnerabilities doesn't generate drama.
well, i doubt ccp saw this coming ahead of time. i doubt its going to be good for bussiness no matter what way they rule. if they go for leaving bob as is, bob players are going to leave with their alts. if they rule in bob's favor then a lot of random players will get up and leave.
I don't want to play a game where a certain group of players get special treatment for any reason. chribba-gate rightfully ****ed of players that saw it as 1 person getting special rights in game. that was 1 person with a harmless capship so imagine the questions that will arise if ccp revives bob and basically rolls the server back a few days?
if ccp wants to fix that feature that was working as intended but is no longer convientient then they can. however bringing bob back will be a blow internally, meaning the player base as well as a bad PR move. gamers considering eve will think twice about bothering since the developer will be seen as favoring a group of players over others , basically making them invincible.
either way ccp is going to lose accounts, its just how does ccp want to be seen in a week? do they want to be seen as devs of a game with a harsh reality, permanent losses and treachery built into the game? OR do they want to be seen as the wannabe wow in space game developers? all of the years of the devs and the player base selling eve as a cutthroat mmo gets flushed down the toilet.
unless someone hacked an account or the game, i believe bob is going to have to stay dead for the good of eve. it sucks for bob players of course but i doubt bob was a saint when it came to metagaming and buying off players in high places.
