Did you seriously just use the word insurance in a possitve sense regarding T2? |

Wow, you guys are really making a mountain out of a molehill here. Just like the current economic "crisis" that surrounds us in the real world, with the press and government spreading world-wide panic and fear which only makes the situation worse. People stop buying things out of fear of the economy, which drives businesses into bankruptcy, which loses jobs and puts people in a worse situation than they started in.
If people just calm down instead of panicking, things in the market will work themselves out. |

But thats precisely what a recession is, fear. The people who understand that are the ones that come out ok at the end, the ones that don ruin it for those around them. The person is smart, people are dumb, panicky creatures -------------------------

While there is certainly a psychological component to recessions it is not 100% of the problem.
For instance, in the current US recession part of the problem is tight credit. Corporations can't borrow to finance operations so they lay people off. The laid off people stop spending like drunken sailors. Commence spiral.
None of this applies to Eve, of course. Also, we have absolutely no idea what the GDP of Eve is. We only know less than 4% of players keep their manufacturing capability maxed out. From a 96% idle capacity standpoint you could say the Eve economy is completely flatlined in the first place, and terms like "recession" and "depression" are meaningless. |

There's a lot of nerdrage in this thread.
Best thing to be learned from all of this if you fly T2 ships in PvP is to hedge against price fluctuation by buying in lots of 10 or 15 at a time if you can. If you can't, try and set up a revenue generation process by which you eventually can. --------------------

Originally by: Thyza Groundbite you said it yourself, if the prices go bananas everyone will start mining dysp like crazy, thereby driving the prices down again. And eve stabbilizes, again.
That's not how dysp works.

Supposedly.
Also the correct spelling of "Deimos" is "Diemost", so I'm told.

If you weigh the cost of the T2 to the cost of the T1 with Modes to make it as good or better then T2 you'll find it's almost the same price. As T2 becomes more expensive, people will just stop buying them.
The best thing about Mods is the fact they can move from one ship to the next without any real effort. You're investment is considerably more dynamic then a T2 ship that is designed toward a single task.
A Drake can tank a LVL4 just as well as a Command Ship, the difference is, a Drake's setup costs maybe 170mil complete with rigs ammo and mods. The command ship all you have for 170mil is just the command ship itself which is about as useful as a warm turd wrapped in a sock! |

Except there's a limit to a useful tank in L4s. The real difference is DPS. A nighthawk does *so* much more damage in an average, real L4 scenario that the ~hundred M difference will be made up in a month or less by shaving even 5 minutes off each mission.
It's just like the hulk vs covetor. An at most 15% performance difference is magnified several fold by the hulk's vastly larger cargo bay when we're talking AFK solo mining in empire.

Ahem... the rest of the world has been paying more than $4 per gallon for a long time. Americans only get it so cheap becaue the US Government is subsidising the crap out of your gasoline with all that money they're borrowing from overseas.
Might be time for you folk to ask about the oil reserve (or more to the point, whether it still exists).

The U.S. does not subsidize prices you nit. Prices in the U.S. have more to do with refinery practices and competition for the largest consumer market. Read more.

Do you guys have such short memory?
Remember ice price manipulation from couple years back? 750 ISK pu, over 800 in some locations.
Remember how many mineral manipulations we have had?
T3 is coming, one big fat expansion. Everyone is stacking up, just like in QR release and manipulators are going wild.
About the T2 prices.
Anyone remember these...?
Hulk - 650 M ISK T2 invufield - 50 M ISK T2 cargo expander - 55 M ISK
And so on...
It's sure that goons killing bob pretty much kicked this off, but there are other large producers who are actually holding their stuff now - manipulating the price up.
And those guys are making pretty damn good profits now

Some HACs had a pricetag of up to 250m before, didn't stop them from being used quite often.

Seems like the hyp in this thread was justified.
Look at the 100m isk pricetag on Tech 2 ships.
My Drake sales are going through the roof!!!

T2 price increase is great!
It will force players to buy easy ISK by selling GTC. Great for all of us, isn't it?
