Originally by: Dreamwalker I think it is wrong that a director of a corp can shut down an alliance. Why isn't that a vote, or have to be the CEO of the executive corp that is the one who can shut down the alliance.
I understand that goons are happy but to think that all it took was to get a director to flip to close down a 1,500 man alliance is bull. CCP needs to fix this or there is no reason to try and build something out in 0.0

Originally by: Mastin Dragonfly An alliance is a willingness of several parties to work together towards a common goal, one single person can't make that willingness go away against the will of all other parties. An alliance should not have some sort of on/off switch, it's not something physical. It's like the US president pressing a button and make 52 states forget hundreds of years of shared history and go solo from then on.
it's more like microsoft going bankrupt and closing the show.
and, yes, one single person can make that willingness go away against the will of all other parties. |

Originally by: Genya Arikaido Now, given that only the executor corp CEO has the direct ability to close an alliance, it seems that it was never CCP's intention to permit directors this same ability to close the alliance they belong to.=
You have absolutely no standing to say that, unless you were a member of the CCP dev team when the mechanics in question were first designed and put into place, so you've just completely invalidated your own post.
Er... no. It's not invalid at all, it's a reasonable inference to make. The executor corp CEO has the direct ability to close an alliance. Directors don't have that ability. Therefore, it would appear to be not intended that directors can close an alliance.
Which part of that don't you understand?
Directors, however, have the ability to kick corps, and therefore disband the alliance. and it is working as inteded. As the point stand, i feel the urge to add the power of directly closing alliances to all Executors directors, that will fix the issue.
Which part of this don't you understand?
EDIT: awh, sniped |

Others may have fun taking advantage of the situation but those 1500 players need to be kept in mind.
[ą] those 1500 ex-bob players were just employees of a large alliance that someone at the top of the chain got bored with. good luck job hunting!!!
ącome to think of it, how many members do the Goons have? Last I heard, it was in the region of 5,000, and I'd be willing to bet that they're having fun. If the non-fun of those 1,500 needs to be kept in mind, so does the fun of those 5,000ą and it seems the game as a whole is up 3,500 "fun units" from this debacle.
