Hey guys, still new around the edges. Currently I am making my own trades all over the galaxy it seems but I want to take on more and help pad my wallet a bit. I am in a badger II with 12-13k m3 in high sec but will have to adjust in low sec down to 9-10k (mods etc). I know it's not a lot of space but I want to concentrate on light-weight items.
I have a second account that I use as a scout. I make sure every low-sec run is investigated for pod-kills and then scouted with an alt. If there are too many pod-kills to my liking I will make the run in the morning. I play every day and can guarantee fast delivery and will adjust the deliver schedule to avoid peak times if needed.
I would prefer consistent, steady contracts with decent payouts incrementally increasing according to the number of jumps into low-sec, through high-sec and the amount of cargo space required.
I have grown frustrated with public contracts, some which payout very little for high risk into deep space. And I would hope after initial trust and reputation is gained with my service a raise maybe deserved or a weekly salary implemented.
I currently have 85 million isk for collateral. 120mill is tied up into the market at the moment for 205mill total, which will be free to use in a 2 weeks - hopefully doubling.
Even though I can potentially make more isk running my own trade routes, I also want to make connections with community and build my reputation as a dependable hauler. Which could eventually lead to notable references for some corp applications I will be making in a couple months.
Please feel free to contact me in game either about hauling or just to chat!
Thanks, -Corpia |

Sounds like you might consider getting a blockade runner. You will need industrial 5, cloaking 4. Maybe some riggings skills. The ship is extremely hard to catch in low sec. Also, you might want to consider doing courier missions. These can be done in conjunction with courier contracts and hauling stuff.

Ok looks like all I need is industry 5 which I could get in 5 days. Now is a blockade runner under Transport ships? So the Bustard or Crane for Caldari pilots?
Also, I noticed the Badger Mark II only has 250 less m3 and goes faster. What major benefit would I get by getting a Transport ship? More fitting slots? Better passive bonuses? Maybe I need to do some research on how to fit one etc and what makes them a "blockade runner" etc.
But maybe deep low-sec running is for another day. But I can handle a 1-2 jumps into low sec as I am now but not more. For the time being I can still make use of high sec contracts because these transport ships have a high price tag and will take me awhile.
As for courier missions, it seems that it is quite hard for me to add missions to my runs. The time taken to find a decent agent, make jumps to them and hope they give me a mission heading in the general direction I want to go, in the end doesn't fit with my play style. But honestly I haven't tried running missions while trading. I try to min/max my time played in relation to isk spent on items etc.
Thanks for the tip

What you get is a sick amount of armor/shield resistance right from the start before adding any hardeners which makes you very hard to kill. Also you get either a 2+ warp strength or the ability to fit a cloak.

The cloak is IMHO a better fit. If you get caught by a gate camp after a jump the stab bonus does you nothing really. And getting caught by a camp jumping into or hitting the edge of a bubble after warp, the cloak does you better overall.
I'll will echo the shield and armor resists, a good skilled pilot with proper fits can throw up an insane amount of effective HP for a hauler, enough that you really don't have to worry about suicide kills in empire and only trained camps in low and null.
I got popped once in low sec during a mining op, but it took the Raven, Vaga and Rifter 4 minutes to get me to structure. |
