I have a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family, and it runs smoothly for the most part, but I can't seem to find online the info needed if it will work with the new premium lite client (shader models etc.)
Anyone know?
Thanks.

That is the chip set name for the circuitry that runs the whole computer not the type of gpu it has. You should have the gma x3100 and whilst it will not the the best there is you should have no issues running the new client with it be it the lite or full premium. |

Really, cuz it says im not premium compatible..hmmm....there's an accelerator driver that I haven't bothered to mess with, maybe that has something to do with it.
I'll keep looking, not sure where I can find the name of the graphics card on this laptop.

Go to your settings folder and start the 'system' app. When its open look for the hardware tab then the device manager button. Then look for your gpu in the display adapters section. |

I did exactly as instructed and it gives me what I stated above. Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family, and there's two of them. |

Dunno what to say. Intel specs say that chipset uses the gma x3100 integrated gpu and that it supports sm4 so it should work.
Originally by: Specs:GMA X3100 The GMA X3100 is the mobile version of the GMA X3000 used in the Intel GL960 and GM965 chipsets. The X3100 supports hardware transform and lighting, up to 128 programmable shader units, and up to 384 MB memory. Its display cores can run up to 333 MHz on GM965 and 320 MHz on GL960. Its render cores can run up to 500 MHz on GM965 and 400 MHz on GL960. The X3100 display unit includes a 300 MHz RAMDAC, two 25-112 MHz LVDS transmitters, 2 DVO encoders, and a TV encoder. In addition, along with the latest drivers, the product supports DirectX 10.0[10], Shader Model 4.0 and OpenGL 2.0.

You might also see what your Display settings window says. It'll probably say the same as the hardware section but then again there might be more info.
That aside If you look here you'll see that the minimum shader model supported by all the listed integrated graphics chips is 2.0 and the current plan for "Premium Lite" is to be Shader Model 2.0 while main Premium stays 3.0. ____________________

The "Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express" chipset has a GMA X3100 integrated into it so it may not show up as that Graphics chipset due to the way Intel drivers work.

Although it does claim to support SM 4.0 I wouldn't try to run anything needing that on one as current Intel graphics are, to put it bluntly, a pile of crap.
However: Eve should run fine, you may be able to run Premium at a reduced framerate and, when Premium lite comes along you should have no problems running that too. |
