If I shoot Gallente patrol ships in highsec, will I get Caldari standings? Do I have to kill them?

Edited by: RingJim on 11/02/2009 20:21:34 shooting ships that are not mission related/have a bounty (like asteroidbelt rats), or dont have a agression timer towards you, wont get your standings up.

You no longer get positive standing from actions that negatively affect your standing. So no positive standing for opposing factions when you kill ships, fail missions, and so on. ---

Unless they have changed things a lot (and they may have) working for one of the neutral factions is an effective way to increase your standing for all the nation factions, the best ones for this included iirc Sister of Eve and Interbus going from memory. Also Diplomacy helps loads I have it maxed and I think it took me down from actual standing of -5.0 with caldari to somewhere just around -1.9 or something

W/o checking SoE is friendly to a couply other factions, so doing storylines for them should increase standing with their friends afaik....
Currently only running for Gallente and got no intention to repair my relationship with Caldari or Amarr ;) so I don't know anything for sure...

With Caldari faction standings your options for mission running (in-order of effectiveness) are Caldari State, Amarr Empire, Mordu's Legion Command, Khanid Kingdom, and Ammatar Mandate.
If you have hosed your standings with all five of those factions, then your remaining option is to join the Caldari/Amarr militia via a player corp and earn ranks to rebuild your standings.
If you have exhausted the standings gains from militia ranks, then you will need to wait until the standings mechanics are changed.
You have of course already maximized the bonus from the Diplomacy skill?
As footnotes: SoE is not friendly with Caldari so will not provide standings increases with that faction. While Interbus is friendly with all empire factions, it does not have any storeline agents and thus cannot provide faction standings increases. As previously noted, standings loses do not result in derived standings gains. Your only chance for indirect standings gains is those derived from standings increases with allied factions.

And what happened to the native agent that always speaks to you, not sure though if he is in low-sec or not. Heck this thing was outdated! So updated.

Edited by: Eugene Spencer on 12/02/2009 16:42:53 If you've got the cash you can do missions at Data Centers. These are storyline missions which you can do one after another.
We warned though it can be expensive if you've not got a spare 200m+

All interbus storyline agents were deleted.
this happened prior to factional warfare.
So you couldnt be in bed with all the factions.
Or at least not as easly..
Soe Is a good example of how you Could turn your gallente standing around at a low cost to your caldari standing.
As I have done it.
