In the late 1990s, I had an idea for a game set in space. These CCP boys are sharp - nothing gets past them!

It is a shame then that they cannot add a simple and much sought after feature of being able to signify within you corp that you are afk so that when players log in, they don't waste time trying to hail you.
There is currently a green and red light next to your char, why not an amber light to show only your corp mates that you are online but afk. (For those who might forget to turn it back off, it could be auto turn-off if you move the mouse or press a key.)

Oh yeah, well I used to play "asteroid battles" on a piece of paper where you held your pencil up and tried to push it real fast to shoot the other ship.

3 - easier still to create 1 button to press - not everyone on Vent all the time and AFK channel is another window you dont need and dont want to have to check first.
1. Log into Ventrilo 2. Go to AFK channel

Can you mine ice while logged off then? No, but you can mine it afk while doing something more productive. Hence why a LOT of players would like the afk feature for corp members.

They do from time to time.
I remember pushing really hard on features and ideas forums for pilotable POS guns since like 2005, that was edifying when I came back to see them implemented.

Nothing gets by you much, either in that case.
You were beaten by Elite (1981), and Wing COmmander (1983).
For that matter, EvE's closest in spirit to David Braben's Elite gone multiplayer - just tweak the physics a bit, and you'd have a expanded version.

At the ripe age of 5, back in 1984, i "coded" a game on sharp mz800(with a diskdrive! ) where you flew a ship inside a canyon.
There ya go, planetary flight, stolen!

Well you know guys, even though all ideas already have been tried once before by someone else (which probably includes your ideas just the same), I would like to think me posting on eve's forums almost 4 years ago has had a tiny bit of influence, even if its not actually the case =)
If you guys had similar ideas posted on eves features and ideas forum's be sure to dig them up and see how your crystal ball was doing at the time :P
Have fun!

Now there's a good idea I'd never considered before. An amber light would be perfect. Maybe show this only for corp or militia, as if your enemies can see it, it could be used as a feint whilst docked to try and clear a station camp, and similar tactics.

Just to outdo everyone else:
I thought of the idea back in prehistoric times, back when I used to hang around with Jesus and the dinosaurs. If you find a cave in the south of France, there will be an outline of the original concept nest to some stick figures throwing sticks into what appears to be a mammoth.
