As the title suggests, how do I manually set the windowed mode resolution?
I'm running vista with dual screens so I can't just span my desktop so the only work around that doesn't cost hundreds to span Eve across my 2 monitors is to stretch the windowed mode.
So where and what file do I edit to manually configure windowed mode to 3360x1050?

Yes I did but I got endless pages for people using Cedega or other linux distros, I tried several other searches but I got similar results so I decided to try here.

I'm not sure for going high but to go low (my options only go as low as 1600) I set the desktop resolution to a lower resolution and start eve and set the windowed resolution to the lower resolution i want.
Sorry for not answering the OP question but with your title some people wanting to set a lower resolution are going to stumble across your thread. As far as i know the data files dont have an easily editable resolution. It's in the PC.dat file but in notepad I can't tell what is supposed to be there to set various resolutions.

You can't use notepad to edit binary files. Should use hiev, hexedit or other careful tool. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Ok, so extension of previous query, and nothing seems to give a detailed enough answer for a technophail such as myself.
What I really want to do, is run in windowed mode, maximised. This should not be hard, all my other MMOs have managed it fine - even the bloody matrix could do it! All I want is max screen covered apart from the taskbar. Then I can see flashing IM's/jabber, but the game is at a decent resolution and immersion is not ruined by wide swathes of my desktop showing.
PC.dat does not seem to exist. Searched the CCP folder for it.
I run monitor/desktop/fullscreen 1440x900, windows xp pro
Step by step for a moron? Sorry.

There's not a way to do this for EVE. No easy way, that is. EVE, unlike Lineage2, does not account for window resizes. Unfortunately... My suggestion is to try and create custom resolution using RivaTuner, then choose it in EVE. But still, it's messy in there for windowed resolutions... -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Edited by: Meer Kat on 24/04/2009 18:05:12 I use Shiftwindow, It has the ability to resize the window to any size larger or smaller, works for any windowed application. Screenshot
I have 4 accounts on 2 monitors, I setup my main character on the 24" at full size then the secondary character on the second monitor, this monitor has the Taskbar at the right edge vertically. I set the Eve window to expand to hide the top bar but a few pixels narrower than the monitor so I can access the task bar without using the windows key or minimizing the client. This would work if the Taskbar was in its default bottom position also.
The other 2 Eve clents remain minimized for the most part only maximised to change settings etc. They are instantly available via the task bar without disturbing the other 2 client windows. I set low res for these two, 1024x768, so they overlay the main clients leaving them visible below.
FPS increases significantly when the clients are maximised by shiftwindow. It ensures there is no overlap of monitors which is an FPS killer.
Shift window is much more customizable than the other apps out there.

Thank you - that is an awesome app.
I really do not understand why they made the game without that functionality...

And here's another one with the same problem and same request. I'd like to add that I cannot think of any single valid reason as for why EVE does not allow us to make a window of a custom size. First of all what is the point of having the choice of running EVE windowed in the first place if we can only choose the same limited set of ill fitting common screen resolutions?
Quite frankly: Does this not appear to be an arbitrary developer choice, made due to pure, blank mindlessness? ...flies fly in and out of a lax gaping mouth? Blank, dull eyes stare into the void? - FFS, developers, shape up!

Try and add the resolution you want to your costum resolution list in your nvidia controll panel if you have an nvidia card. EVE pulls all resolutions from the drivers these days. _

Edited by: Creh Ester on 14/05/2009 22:24:21 Doesn't seem to work. I have recently switched to AMD/ATI and Catalyst Control Center does not seem to allow you to add an arbitrary resolution to the list. Nor can I think of any reasonable reason why it should, since I assume the screen list is composed from what the monitor and videocard is able to support.
Now this thing about EVE is much different. I mean WHY should it pull available resolutions for a WINDOW from a list of SCREEN resolutions? They should pretty much be guaranteed to be unsuitable, and they are. It's not just a question of not good enough thinking - The first thought isn't even there! - FFS, developers, shape up!
