"Victor quickly activated his warp drive, having no intention of fighting the Caldari frigate on his lightly armed ship. But before he could finish selecting a destination for his warp he noticed that the Caldari had scrambled him, preventing him from entering warp. Victor veered his ship away from the Caldar vessel, the range still a good 10 kilometers. His ship computer registered a couple of missiles being launched, but their e.t.a. was still some seconds off. In the meantime Victor activated his anti-scrambling unit - due to the strength of the Caldari scrambler it would take a full minute to de-scramble the warp drive." http://www.eveonline.com/background/potw/mar01-02.asp
Rofl, that would be SO MUCH BETTER than the current warp core stabilizers.. Seriously. It would almost be awesome. If you can keep yourself alive for a minute or so, scramble broken. It would remove the insta-stabilize aspect of WCS, making pirates more deadly, yet still offering pilots a chance as long as they know how to stay alive for a short time.
It would mean that a pirate gang would still eat you up during that minute, but vs solo pirates there'd be a chance for a bigger ship to escape. But WITHOUT resorting to WCS's which frankly are boring due to their guaranteed 100% no-scramble factor.
Anyone agree?

I agree that more mechanics that make blobbing more viable than soloing are needed. Oh yes. -

You dont get it.. Solo vs WCS = fail. Solo vs a device that takes a minute to break the scramble = win

It would be a nice idea if:
- It will not replace WCS, just limit them in a way (1 or 2 per ship max). - This anti-scrambling unit was a direct countermeasure to HIC infinity scramble. - You could warp out of Bubbles with it. - Activation timer would be dependant on Mass of the ship (Frig - 1 min, Cruiser 2 minutes, BS - 4 minutes, Capitals - 10 minutes) - Activation of other modules, or warp drive durring the charging process would reset the counter. - Any activity except the movement or warp while charged would result in discharge.

The real anti-scrambling unit is named ECM. ____________________________________ Fulbert Peon |

Yes, I totally can't see how that would benefit Drakes or bigger ships being attacked by smaller ones. It would also not at all benefit pilots who contribute nothing to their fleet by fitting massively huge tanks but do no damage and add no Ewar or tackling.

"It would mean that a pirate gang would still eat you up during that minute, but vs solo pirates there'd be a chance for a bigger ship to escape."
On top of this, it would screw up haulers and other ships which would not last a minute. WCS gives you the option of giving up what little combat functionality you have to allow you a chance to avoid combat. This gives you the option of giving up combat functionality in order to die. -

that option would also shred +2 for Blockade runners....

Edited by: TraininVain on 13/03/2009 12:06:55 Sounds pretty "flamboyant" tbh
WCS for big combat ships with none of the drawbacks is not something that would make PVP better.
