I know that there are a fair few threads on this now, but I am genuinely curious as to how you are getting on if your trading activities are based around contracts?
I have just logged out having logged in to buy 7 Caldari Navy Launchers. My plan was to watch local for a few moments just in the off chance that someone was advertising a contract for same, unlikely I know, but I thought I would at least expand local to see. Wow, the anti-spammers and fighting hard with the spammers û result = local totally and completely (as opposed to mostly) useless.
What I wasnÆt expecting however was the immense number of contracts that have actually been created making the already unpleasant contracts interface a real chore.
My gut reaction was to give up on my purchase there and then! If you use contracts to trade items, is this mayhem causing you an issue?
Are we breeding a new player experience that instructs players to avoid ALL contracts from day one? Will this have an affect down the line?
Edit to add, IÆm not really interested in your views on if you agree with the scams or not, if you think that CCP should deal with it or not, there are enough threads covering those points already. I am interested in what the result of all this is/has been/will be for traders?

I am a heavy user of the contracts system and have been since it's introduction. The interface is terrible and I hope there is a special place reserved in hell for the person(s) who threw it together.

I do 95+% of my trades via contracts, with upto 20B sales/orders per month. So the interface does work.
My experience has taught me that the simplified view with contracted either ordered in expiry date (longest first usually) or item name are the best options for me. The default setting might look pretty but dont appear to be the best options IMHO.
The search tool is also very good at eliminating most scams but is found on the expanded menu. I feel it would be better if this was on a separate tab like the market windows. More people would find it.

I do billions in business via contract. It works, but not well. Even so simple a thing as allowing to search as you do on the market would be nice. Then you could search "Dark Blood" and get all Dark Blood items, or "Armor Thermic Hardener" and see everything available. While it wouldn't simplify things on my end, it would likely increase visibility.
Sorting my contracts by the "Contract" and having it actually sort them alphabetically instead of by when I put them up would be nice, too.
CCP shouldn't do anything about scams though. The fact that they've turned jita local into a useless advertising tool really doesn't bother me, nor do I think it significantly hurts business; I don't think the "impulse buy from contracts linked in local" catagory is a major one. ------------- Goonfleet Investment Banking - Bringing you the spoils of Delve!
Search Corestwo and Goonfleet Investment Banking under "issued by" on contracts for the current item list! |

My experiences with contracts have been similar. It's passible, but there's room for improvement. I wouldn't discontinue contracts over it, but I do think I could get contracts fulfilled faster if they were more accessible (easier to use).

You know you can hit the "More" button on the contracts window, type in whatever you want in the description field, and only get a search of contracts that contain that item.

Does anyone else feel like new "Trade with contracts" threads are opening up every day basically asking the same thing?
Does anyone out there think "F$#K this moron should just learn how to use eve-search.com rather than posting the same repeated and done to death s$@t over and over and over and over again?"
Not that I am saying or thinking anything like that, was just wondering if anyone was? |

Yeah? When you hang out somewhere and you have noobs walking in everyday asking the same question over and over without bothering to do any research, then yeah you'd have the right to be kind of a **** about it

Not only could it be changed so people could quickly and intuitively find the item(s) they want, which can be an issue for new/occasional users of the contract system because of the poor interface, but it could be made so that creating HUNDREDS OF CONTRACTS EVERY DAY WAS LESS LIKELY TO INDUCE THE USE OF CAPS IN DISCUSIONS ABOUT HOW TERRIBLE IT IS.

It seems that any contract advertised in local is a scam. At least, all the ones in jita are. No, no one is really trying to sell you an interceptor for 1m :p
The only real thing I dislike about contracts is trying to sort through all the scams. Fortunately there is a 'max price' filter which you can use to filter out everything silly. Highly recommend. |

Actually I seem to be lucky in finding worthwhile stuff being offered in Jita Local. Well, after spending the first 15 minutes blocking everyone that offers contracts missing a decimal point. And the ones telling me that they'll give me 5 times what I give them. Or the ones offering me normal ships in faction drag for cheap. Or... well screw it. Jita local is pretty damn useless. No. They count electric sheep to fall asleep and then dream of inserting their joysticks into joy ports.

Wait, when you read the title "Do you trade using contracts, how's things currently" did you think that there would be something new? No, why the hell did click on it then?
