Edited post cause I found for whatever reason the message was turned off.
I got nothing and then got a big fine at a gate just for hauling crap I got out a mission.
Yeah I know cry some moar.
I probably deserved it.
But I been moving stuff in like forever that was contraband for years.
Even leaving some ships going over dozens of jumps on autopilot.
First time I ever got pulled up on it.
Did they buff the contraband laws to be worth a damn or was I just really unlucky this one time?

I got caught recently on a three jump trip after many times of no problems going 10s of jumps. I suspect stealth boost to customs agents.

AFAIK it's not concord it's Navy.
I had to give myself up though, was in an untanked t1 hauler.
I'd have died under web long before I ever got back to the gate.
Woulda thought frigate is best for smuggling.
There's a cool video on youtube somewhere about the greatest drugs smuggle to Jita where they fight the guards.

really, sweet. i was under the impression you could not fight the faction npc's without dying a violent death by concord. But i guess your standing takes a big hit from the faction. How tough are they? Join the brown Coats today!!! |

AFAIK there's more of them around the gates in higher security systems which makes them incrementely tougher to beat.
I don't know how people have had fights with them though since I would've thought attacking customs = corcordokken.
Maybe there's a trick to it I dunno.

I once jettisoned some slaves at a gate in Minmatar space.
They got promptly blown up by the customs.

I often used my alt to collect drugs and slaves etc. from missions and have never had problems with it. ...until now...
..the other day I wanted to move a lot of drugs and slaves from Essence to Amarr space.
I totaly got creamed. My alt was blown up and ended up with a MINUS 26mil wallet.
..my alt is now returned to the bio mass.

Got stopped for the first time ever, in over 2 years, last week for carrying 20 blue pills out of a mission. Had the choice to dump them and be fined 130K ISK, or Caldari Customs was gonna blow up my Dominix. Naturally I handed the contraband over.
I welcome this change (if customs agents have in fact been boosted). Whats the point in having illegal goods if you never get caught?

And biomassing the alt could be considered an axploit, as with recycling alts for suicide ganking. But this scenario has not yet been covered ______________________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

1) It's not the Navy, nor CONCORD, inspecting your ships. It's the customs office, flying all those ships who's names start with "<faction> Customs..." Not really rocket science, that. They usually spend their days at the edges of the empire, but can sometimes be met at region borders, too (see #2).
2) The chance of getting caught with contraband on board is random, but an old rumour says that gates that contraband has moved through get an increase in customs officers in a downtime. These get reduced if no further contraband flies through for a while.
3) If your standing towards a faction is 8.0 or greater, you will not be punished for contraband in your cargohold in that faction's space. This is the bit people usually don't know or notice. Good guys get to transport bad stuff, the faction trusts them to be on heir way to dispose of it properly.

My experience tells me you're wrong on that last one. 9.84 -> 9.76 (or so) faction standings, due to 'customs at gate'.

This. Went from 9.94 to 9.88 after cleaning up a mission 1 jump from agent system. This is a ridiculously large standing hit. It'll take months to get that back.
And yes, ever since Apocrypha there's been a large rise in customs complaints.

Question still remains, and I didn't see it answered yet: if you say no will you
A: indeed loose your ship? B: can you fight your way out of it? C: did CCP stealth boost customs?

I think they need to make the gate guards even worse
THEN they need to up the ability/profitability of smuggling as a profession
/i'd be flossin and flyin a rifter full of drugs, small arms, prostitutes and slaves all day every day //jabba look, even I get boarded sometimes

You can fight the navy. There was a video of a guy who was a -10 pirate that jumped into Nourv and slowboated back to the gate in a drake under fire from the navy. He killed something like 100 navy ships before making it back to the gate and jumping back into Tama.
It's possible.

I got busted recently for carrying Caldari tags 2 jumps through Caldari space.
Since they're illegal to sell but not own, I got a fine of 0.00 isk and a standing loss of 0.0%
How odd.

the navy has nothing to do with concord. the navy was even designed so that those who are in fac war (and get attacked on sight) can come in, do a quick run, blow something up, and get out (just don't do it in a plated battleship)
