Edited by: Lord Gary on 16/05/2009 11:21:25 Edited by: Lord Gary on 16/05/2009 11:21:01 Scamming as a profession is now broken. The changes in the last patch were an un-needed nerf to what was already the hardest and most risky profession in game. No longer can we hard working scammers miss-price a contract item and hope for a sale, now we have to resort to miss-naming battleships and hoping no one notices.
The reward for scamming is now no longer in line with the great risks we take trying to make a sale. Suicide ganks, war decs on any non-npc corp we join, blocked by 75% of EVE, contract fees etc. the list of risks is growing longer with every patch while the list of possible rewards and isk sources is growning shorter.
CCP, please fix what is now the most broken profession, scamming. You know there is a huge problem when the most brilliant and talented scammer, Delphi Grendalus, has given up scamming till it is fixed. /signed Lord Gary and my 6 accounts.

WHAT?!?!?!?!
it is not really hard and it isnt really risky either?....
what risky about it, you get a alt and pu something up for sale tweak the contract to make it look like something else.
suicide ganks and wzar dec are not part of scamming they are part of corporatism.
and your trying to scam people people that are up and know your trick are of course going to block you. this patch has not changed anything for that.
your rewards still remind since you always getting something for free OR/EITHER selling something which is pretty much worth nothing for massive amounts of isk.
and for future reference scamming isnt the most broken profession in eve it is bounty hunting.
please cry some more
if you buy eve in a box from my game store i will give you isk (GAME , parkgate rotherham)

This is the first post I've made on this matter. Untill now I've been silently toiling away, watching as every patch made scamming more risky and less rewarding. No More!
This last change is the straw that broke the camels back. Scamming is no longer a viable profession, it is in fact utterly BROKEN. I wont be silent any longer. I have 6 acitve and paid up accounts, all paid for by buying plexes from scammed isk which I worked twice as hard as anyone else to make. Now, I can't see me keeping more then 2 with the level of income the new changes to scamming have forced me to generate.
This needs to be looked at NOW.

When I saw her in dodixie she told me she had stopped scamming and taken up trading/ninja salvaging. I can't say I blame her as those two professions will net her 5x as much isk with zero risk.
Just sucks to see such a well respected and famous scammer like her give it up, it's like seeing your hero retire I guess.

Don't flatter yourself, Lord Gary/Delphi. You're not a scammer, you're a bottomfeeder. Scamming is not all about spamming fake contracts in jita, proper scamming is an almost masterful art. Check out the work done by people like Miz Cenuij who runs actual confidence scams over a long time. Or the various investment scheme scams that have raked in hundreds of billions. Ionia pulled an estimated 400b out of the market before disappearing and he was so good about it that there are people STILL hoping he'll come back and it won't be a big scam. Even I thought Ionia was for real after the first few months despite initially voicing my concerns that the character was an unproven alt. The guy had a silver tongue, he talked his way into a fortune over the course of over a year. Or what about the countless people that talk their way into corps and then yoink all the corp assets? Or that guy that set up a research corp with a POS for someone's hulk BPO, then pulled a CEO-vote switch and stole the BPO?
A proper scam is one that is so clever or deceptive that you can't help but respect it even if you hate scamming in general. Spamming "selling invulnerability field II cheap 1mil 1mil 1mil 1mil <--1 MIL CREAZXY PRIXCE 1 MILLION !" in local 23/7 is hardly fit to be called scamming at all.

I'm sorry but I'm very new to the whole posting thing. What do all the marks out of 10 mean? Are they how much out of ten people are agreeing with me?
In that case it's nice to see that I'm not alone in realising scamming is currently a broken and unviable profession. We scammers have been the red-headed step children of EVE for far too long now.
I'll keep my accounts till ambulation (they are all paid up for 2 years anyway) but if no new ways to scam are introduced with that realise, like "find the queen" or even pickpocketing, or if scamming in general is not looked at then I will not be renewing all 6 accounts.
If CCP wont listen to the reason and wisdom of the masses who agree with me then they will HAVE to listen to their bank-accounts.

Edited by: Ferdio Ricotez on 16/05/2009 13:42:32 Scamming is an art. I have respect for people who have mastered that art. However, as with all arts, it comes with a learning curve. If you find yourself incapable of scamming, it means you don't have enough expertise with it, and thus you cannot consider yourself an artist, or a scammer in this case.
Me myself, I don't want to get involved with the profession. Anyone stupid enough to fall for a scam, has nothing to complain; it was their own fault. I haven't fallen for a scam yet, but I know it may happen any moment. And if I fall for one, it was due to my own stupidosity, and I may learn from the experience. I would never pull of a scam myself, though. -----
