The changes in the last patch were an un-needed nerf to what was already the hardest and most risky profession in game. No longer can we hard working scammers miss-price a contract item and hope for a sale, now we have to resort to miss-naming battleships and hoping no one notices.
The reward for scamming is now no longer in line with the great risks we take trying to make a sale. Suicide ganks, war decs on any non-npc corp we join, blocked by 75% of EVE, contract fees etc. the list of risks is growing longer with every patch while the list of possible rewards and isk sources is growning shorter.
CCP, please fix what is now the most broken profession, scamming. You know there is a huge problem when the most brilliant and talented scammer, Delphi Grendalus, has given up scamming till it is fixed. /signed Lord Gary and my 6 accounts.
If this is true, then it was on time! Not because I oppose scamming in EVE. I just oppose the mindless, brainless spamming of the scammers in chat foras.
Oh, you mention risk vs. reward? I would very much like to subscribe to your newletter regarding this topic on price scamming with the risk and reward.

a few weeks back I was scammed out of 200m (nothing big) by someone, and not with a ,999 scam, but after he talked to me for about 1 hour trying to make me believe he needed the isk to invest into his corp, and I would get shares in that corp.
never got the shares, even send the guy a EVEmail for his well-executed scam
tl;dr
DONT DO ,999 SCAMS BUT DO IT THE OLD WAY cheers, Faros

I remember someone almost got 50 mill out of me once pretending to offer a service.
They were very convincing, almost came close to giving them the benefit of the doubt.
As they say, a scammer will always find a way, all he needs to know is what it is you want.

Meh… I kind of half-agree.
On the one hand, the scams were fun and should be possible (anyone stupid enough to fall for them deserves it). On the other hand, the UI inconsistency was just plain wierd. On the third hand, the actual problem was spam, which is still as common as ever. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Don't flatter yourself, Lord Gary/Delphi. You're not a scammer, you're a bottomfeeder. Scamming is not all about spamming fake contracts in jita, proper scamming is an almost masterful art. Check out the work done by people like Miz Cenuij who runs actual confidence scams over a long time. Or the various investment scheme scams that have raked in hundreds of billions. Ionia pulled an estimated 400b out of the market before disappearing and he was so good about it that there are people STILL hoping he'll come back and it won't be a big scam. Even I thought Ionia was for real after the first few months despite initially voicing my concerns that the character was an unproven alt. The guy had a silver tongue, he talked his way into a fortune over the course of over a year. Or what about the countless people that talk their way into corps and then yoink all the corp assets? Or that guy that set up a research corp with a POS for someone's hulk BPO, then pulled a CEO-vote switch and stole the BPO?
A proper scam is one that is so clever or deceptive that you can't help but respect it even if you hate scamming in general. Spamming "selling invulnerability field II cheap 1mil 1mil 1mil 1mil <--1 MIL CREAZXY PRIXCE 1 MILLION !" in local 23/7 is hardly fit to be called scamming at all.

I'd be surprised if there were any forum-goers that hadn't at least heard of the GHSC heist. It's probably attracted more people to EVE than the official trailers have ever pulled in :p.

I'm truedly saddened to see such talent put out of business, Delphi Grendalus will be imortalised as the creater of the ingenious "Guardian Vexor" scam which I'm sure many people fell foul to considering it was such an inventive and not at all obvious scam. _______________________________________

I'm sorry to break that to you, but you're not a paying customer of the game. You purchase a service with a virtual currency that OTHERS have paid real money for, not you. In fact, if you switch from 6 plex'ed accounts to 2 accounts you actually pay for with real cash then CCP will gain 2 paying accounts.
By all means, go ahead.

To the OP "hard working" and "Scammers" in Eve don't go hand in hand. And lets face it there is no risk for scammers since they use a throwaway alts, and 99% of them never master the art they all use the same copy cat scams.
Pointless thread ..

…and they'll lose 4 payed accounts, since those providing the plexes will have 4 fewer (repeat) buyers and thus won't buy the extra accounts. All accounts are payed for, no matter who use the account at the end. Fewer accounts = CCP loses money.
This whole "subscribing through PLEX = unpayed account" notion is bunk. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I love how many times the concept of players that threaten an entire sub-community within the game quiting.
When that sub-community of players consists of maybe.... what 100 at most?
But really, I'm taking you seriously.
Except I'm totally not.

One now could argue on the same basis as yours (basically: thin air) that those people who did not get scammed will now have the money to afford a Plex now and then.

The point was that our illustrious Scammer wanted to lever CCP via his 6 accounts he's subscribing. However he himself isn't actually paying a single cent which makes levering CCP a tad difficult. Nothing out of the ordinary of course for such a skilled Invulnerability Field II - scammer.
