Originally by: CCP Whisper There should not be any files whose permissions are restricted in the EVE directory and the spread of files you are having trouble with are an odd combination. Have you tried restarting your mac and trying to patch following a reboot?
1. Rebooted
2. Launched manual patch
3. Received same request from ipatch for permissions to change: bin blue.dll bin destiny.dll EVE common.ini lib corelib.ccp EVE manifest.dat EVE resLangPack.DE.stuff EVE resLangPack.RU.stuff EVE resui.stuff script compiled.code
4. permissions granted through entering Admin PW.
5. Same error on all of them received (as previously noted).
Open to next suggestion.... ________________________ "The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is" (Winston Churchill). |

Originally by: CCP Whisper I have verified that the files you are having problems with should not have permissions set to anything other than read/write and read.
Hmmm. Odd. I made sure all apps were closed. Rebooted. Even dumped the cache & settings folders. Then, I started manual patch. Ipatch opped up, and opened the choose EVE application. I clicked ok, and same permissions window popped up with those files. I clicked okay and PW window reads:
evepremiumpatch89883-93796-mac.app requires that you type your password
DETAILS: Right: system.privilege.admin Application: evepremiumpatch89883-93796-mac.app
I enter PW, see spinning beach ball, then the same ERROR list.
Originally by: CCP Whisper If you are handy in terminal, could you please locate the eve directory and let me know the permissions listed next to manifest.dat and common.ini if you use the 'ls -n' command?
Sorry, I didn't understand a word you just said.
Originally by: CCP Whisper Is the user account you are logging into your Mac with restricted in terms of file access?
Not that I know of. I made no such setting. Where would I check for that?
Originally by: CCP Whisper Is there anything else running which would for some reason have been touching these files when you tried to patch and led to them getting corrupted in some way?
No. Nothing else is running. ________________________ "The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is" (Winston Churchill). |

Originally by: CCP Fallout Go to where you have EVE installed, find the files manifest.dat and common.ini, right click....and open the info window and tell Whisper what permissions are checked.
manifest.dat = (after right clicking GET INFO) 1. Open with shows no application chosen (it's blank) 2. Sharing & Permissions says ôYou can only readö 3. But under NAME / PRIVILEGES it lists my correct name + Read & Right
common.ini = (after right clicking GET INFO) 1. Open with shows no application chosen (it's blank) 2. Sharing & Permissions says ôYou can only readö 3. But under NAME / PRIVILEGES it lists my correct name + Read & Right ________________________ "The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is" (Winston Churchill). |

CCP FALLOUT & CCP WHISPER....
I solved the Mac problem and successfully installed by manual patch 1.3. Here's how I did it.
1. Any mac operator who experiences this problem with Ipatch needs to first of all make a note of the files in permissions request that come up. In my case they ere as follows:
bin blue.dll
bin destiny.dll
EVE common.ini
lib corelib.ccp
EVE manifest.dat
EVE resLangPack.DE.stuff
EVE resLangPack.RU.stuff
EVE resui.stuff
script compiled.code
2. In this request, each FILE is noted beneath the FOLDER in which it appears. Make sure you have these FOLDERS written down as well.
3. QUIT Ipatch.
4. Locate EVE App in Applications folder, right click >> SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS.
5. Locate each of the files listed in permissions request. Right click each file > GET INFO > go down to PERMISSIONS > unlock > enter PW > back in the GET INFO window at bottom, make sure under PERMISSIONS, that ADMIN is Read & Write, also makes sure ALL users for computer are Read & Write (hit the + to see all users and add any that are not listed).
6. REPEAT #5 but for the FOLDERS that each of the files were located in: for me this was the EVE application itself, BIN folder, LIB folder, and SCRIPT folder. These folders must also be granted full read & write or else they will still show up as error when trying to run patch.
7. Re-launch patch = it works fine. Game launches perfectly with 1.3
