I've got a main and 1 alt already, but I've thought about making a second, focused only on leadership skillz, command ships and orcas.
How viable is that? How long would it take to train for, as in 4 months or 8 months or 16 months? (Please assume I want serious bang for the bucks I'm throwing after a 3rd account.)
And how high should I pimp this alt's Charisma? My main and my current alt have quite low CHA, either as low as it can get or 1 point higher, so this 2nd alt would basically be covering the stuff they aren't well suited to learn.

Using Evemon i get roughly 1 year. That's assuming you want to be able to use all the mindlinks. And fly orca and one races commandship. This is without any of the support skills you would usually want like AWU 5, armor, shield etc.
You will want to remap to as high charisma as possible and then put the rest on willpower. And as the training plan takes 1 year you can remap again after that.

That is sort of what I do on this char (except for the orca + mining gang stuff), should have the last commandship sorted in 2 weeks and then it's just a matter of getting the three last mindlinks. The support/weapon skills are at the level you would need to aim at as well unless you plan to have the commandship sitting in a POS or provide out of corp bonuses for empire wars.

The 10% to agility, armour, shields and targetting from the basic skills is a nice plus whilst you get onto the more arduous training of the specialisation skills.
to get the fleet command ships you also get logistics cruisers along the way, again a nice skill for an alt to have.
pimp charisma for the first year then change it as you need to get the ship skills buffed(including CS5, orca 5), i reckon on 15 months to do it all and include some hefty gang structure skills (wing and fleet command).

if your really serious then after you get learning skill out of the way. i would make first remap to max chr, second wp. then sencond remap max percep, sencond intell. not sure how long take will take but if you train cybergen first and put some +4's you'll be on your way.

Actually, you might as well train cybernetics straight to V; you will need it eventually for the mindlink. The +5's are a tad expensive, but will repay themselves eventually. If it's an alt, I expect him to sit docked for the most time anyhow.
But yes, for a maxed-out commandship pilot (CS V, warfare link spec. V, some warfare spec. V; the latter is needed for the mindlink), expect to train at least a year. More like 1.5 if you want a nice set of support skills. The leadership skills themselves take about 6-8 months, depending how many warfare links you want, and if you want to consider training fleet commander V (only needed for fleets of 160-200+ people).
So my advice: get cybernetics V, plug in +5's. Go for one warfare spec to V Get the mindlink. Fill in the rest with whatever you are fine with.
I am not entirely sure about what to do with attributes. The leaderships skills do not justify maxing out your charisma for a full year.
If you character starts from scratch, I think it's best to start with high memory and intelligence, get the learning skills and cybernetics done, do some of the usual cheapish support skills (the electronics, engineering, and mechanic catagory, maybe industry for the Orca), then switch to high willpower, charisma, and some perception. Eve-mon will probably suggest either maxxing Will or Cha, but you never know, and having a tad higher perception helps with getting into the commandship and orca faster too.

I went this route and it's taken me just shy of a year and a half so far and I'm 3 months away from all 5's in the entire leadership tree. I've trained up basic support skills, can fly a command ship (only cs4), pos gun, and a few other handy side things but can't really call myself combat capable.
It'll take around two years to get a god mode leadership pilot who is good for anything other than staying still at a POS. I can't wait for the next 3 months to tick past and then I can respec away from charisma!
