yes yes this is great. Help get people to understand what's really in a name. That's why they called them blockade runners.
Now, repeat after me, people:
A Strategic Cruiser is still just a cruiser. Yes. Crrrrrrrruuuuuuuissssserrrrrr. So when you pop one with a BS or even a tanking cane, you still popped a CRUISER.
Wait wot... were you trolling me or not????

Edited by: Thingymawotzit on 27/08/2009 05:55:45 Umm i have caught cloaky haulers b4.
You can do it solo although youll be useless for killing anything else.
1. Basically you fit out a bs with a full rack of smartbombs.
2. You need to be sitting on the gate which the hauler is warping TO. You need to be far away enough from the gate to set off the smartbombs but close enough to do damage - which is tricky. You also need to be moving away from the gate in the direction the hauler is coming from (easy to setup in a 2 gate system).
3. Finally when hauler lands light up all smarties in order of resistance type.
Unless they have uber tank on the hauler (which most dont) then youll pop it. Also youll be completely defencless to say a dictor or something that comes in so usually do this sort of thing with friends nearby.

You know the blockade runner is one of the few ships that has a legitimate reason to fit the passive resistance mods..
First off, the first you will see of me is me decloaking on the gate because I got within 2km of it. Secondly you'll get one shot so you may as well set all the smartbombs to go off at the same time (or fit them in the right order so you can just press F1-F8 really really fast) or your not going to get them all off. Thirdly, a pretty basic fit for one has 18K EHP, which isn't much but you get one shot, so you'll have to Alpha that.
Now.. having said that you can always just keep the things running and hope to hit me on the way in AND just before I jump. In this case you get 2 shots off.. I cant get 8 large smartbombs to do more than 2400 damage.. so thats 4800 damage for 2 full vollies.. Which doesnt make it through the shields..
Edit: Oh.. For anyone wondering.. That was a Viator with the following fit. You will notice that it is full of cargo mods, so the structure is down (but gets just over 10k cargo space).

Could always use multiple smartbombing BS?, according to EFT, the Viator has the most EHP with a Cargo Expander/Cargo Rig setup. (8176 EHP), 8176 divided by 300 (large named smartbomb damage), rounded up is 29 smartbombs, which means you'll need 4 BS for it, 2EM smartbomb bs/2Explosive smartbomb bs would probably give you the ability to pop most of them. --- Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I think its a good thing that they are virtually imposable to catch in lowsec.. It encourages pilots to take things there and reduces the market cost for mods that I can actually buy.. I'm slack and generally just buy off the local market if I need something rather than haul it in..
Also, it encourages people to go in to lowsec... More people in lowsec makes my game more fun.

to pop lana's setup, you'd need 8-9 smartbombing BS :), fortunatly very few tank their blockade runners --- Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

Not giving out any secrets by saying that interceptors rushing towards the location where you briefly decloak is always a scary sight for cloaky pilots. Also drones, lots of drones.

All Blockade runners have a MWD fitted...ALL...even the Crane.
While there maybe some tanking modules fitted, its never a tank fit.

You could always try and find a low sec ssytem that has a very short distance between gates too (and not many stargates probably).
Then you need to get a bumping ship as they try and jump only to be denied by session change.

When i have a cargohold full of expensive stuff: Jump in, warp to planet, warp to next gate, repeat till im safe :-) no way your going to catch me without a bubble at the gate.

I actually prefer options 2 and 3...

Not a great fit for a Blockade runner. You should focus on MOVING your cargo not MAXIMISING (md278@Battleclinic).

This trick works and is legal, but it requires a lot of dedication and patience to set up. After that though the carebear tears are immense.
Making Blockade Runners Cry: A How-To
1. Find that hangar full of corpses and load them up in a fast ship of your choice (honestly a blockade runner with a mwd is best for this haha) 2. Go to the gate you want to camp. For example, if you want to camp A->B (A is Highsec, B is lowsec) jump from A to B. Decloak, jettison ONE corpse. 3. Burn back through and repeat, jettisoning corpses as you go. Having corpmates help you is a good tactic as it lessens the amount of time to set up. 4. When the target jumps through, if you have laid enough corpses around the gate, they will not be able to cloak. Lock and destroy!

I run a Prorator through 0.0 bubble camps all the time... you just need bookmarks far off from the gate for scanning and within visual range to see what the camp is comprised of and where the campers are positioned. I have never been caught And did you know that this is in fact Surfin's Plunderbunny's forum alt? It's official! |

I thought it was a bad idea to fit extenders because they increase sig radius? According to some people, a single extender can make you lockable by a sensor booster inty in less than 0.5 seconds.

prowler, covert cloak, scan launcher, brain.
use this and you usually will not have a big issue getting around, most BRs are most vulnerable on undock or exiting system.
as far as catching blockade runners, that's not in my particular interests as I don't fancy dying more.
