Im guessing high ends will drop, since it will be less work to mine them. What about low ends? Will they go up, since POS will encourage more people to go out to 0.0? Will they go down, because there will be less demand (new trade skills limit the number of buy orders)?
Your thoughts? Auction your items for isk, works sort of like ebay. |

- POS will increase mineral prices.
- Less miners working normal minerals and diverted to other types of mining like Ice Fields will increase mineral prices
- The Mining Barge will decrease mineral prices
- "High", "standard" and "low" grade versions of all ore types will decrease mineral prices
- Lower types of ore spawning in higher security level systems will decrease higher end ores and increase lower end ores
- More people going into 0.0 to build POS will increase mineral prices as they'll need to replace their ships
- People trying Level IV Agent missions only to get their ships destroyed will increase mineral prices
- Getting faction ships as rewards for loyaly points from agent missions will decrease mineral prices.
- The amount of consumables like drones, ammo and missiles for POS will increase mineral prices slightly
- System ScannersÖ used by pirates will make them more successful increasing mineral prices
- Not showing up in "Local" chat will make pirates more successful increasing mineral prices
The problem is we don't know which of the above will have a more effect. Too many variables...

just to add a few thoughts to the process.
A lot of new content is going to make mining even less exciting than it is today. The above list demonstrates how many more things are going to be done.
While doing those things people will not be mining.
The POS needs consumables, it depends what it needs, if miners are chewing on icebelts for long periods to keep POS going they are not mining other minerals.
Generally I imagine the mining community is going to reduce (mining is dull, sticking a lens on a mining laser is not going to make it exciting) and the time they spend on mining the traditional minerals we currently see is going to shrink.
While the top tier mining barge is going to mine harder than an Apoc, it is also going to need a fair bit of help by the sounds of it otherwise even the smallest of rats is going to see it running for cover.
So either barge mining is going to be done in Yulai, or it is going to need 2 characters to do it efficiently. Unless those mining barges have defences beyond the general description we have been given.
The general trend of all this "feels" like, less miners, mining different things for different reasons.
Unless there is a fall off of mineral demands (and it is unlikely because of all the new things which all need minerals) it is likely mineral prices are going to rise in Shiva.
Of course I am not putting any time scale on this because right now there is probably massive stock piling of minerals as people gear up for Shiva which is seeing mineral prices higher now than you would normally expect. ******** AUTHOR of the COMPLETE mineral and ore Price guide, updated weekly, see Eve Guardian for details

Plenty already mentioned, but one more thing:
I've heard that new mining lasers with 'ore specific' crystals will be introduced. Assuming that these new lasers and crystals exceed the output of the Miner II, it will be a factor to drive prices down.
Very hard to say if prices will go up or down. My hunch is a modest drop in prices, especially on the low end, but I would not be shocked if I am wrong.

mineral prices will remain the same , or drop .
mineral prices are already sky high due to the lack of miners . the empire dwellers will probably still remain in empire doing their stuff , this will likely hold mineral prices as they are now .
however , there are 2 effects in shiva that will bring in new vars into the systems.
1) level 4 missions - thusends of m3 of recycleable loot per mission (!!), large guns and battleship loot recycles VERY nicely .
2) mining barges , ore quality , and the new system of ore distribution that's supposed to hit with shiva will only cause the high end mineral prices to drop (find that crokite in 0.3 ^^ )

its actually very easy to do level 4 missions solo if you know how to do them .. takes a bit of adapting ;)

The latest analysis of ALL ore and mineral prices in the game has just been published on EVE Guardian.
The general pre-Shiva price movements are in a downward direction.

It remains unclear in which way the mineral market will be going after Shiva. Nobody can predict how the changes in equipment, ore distribution and mining ships will affect the market prices.
You can expect a very high volatility just before and after Shiva will be patched. But I'm sure after a few weeks the mineral market will be balanced again.

returns to time for all types of mining are going to go up. and productivity increasing means prices will fall.
also, if you make things more complex, it doesnt chase people away from doing them. quite the opposite, scope for using your intelligence and ability to improve your profit per hour will create competition. and we all know what competition does to prices.
imagine a real world economy - some small african nation. also imagine it was completely closed to trade. if you suddenly dropped a productive technology on them, made all their primary industries twice as productive, while keeping their money supply constant, you would see a huge boom in real wealth, and so plummeting prices. agent running and mining are both going to become more productive. by how much isn't clear. but they are the two main primary industries in EVE. everything bought or sold in the player market in this game comes from minerals or agent missions (or npc farming, which won't get less productive at the very least). increasing productivity of these activities will create massive deflationairy pressure, which will fall disproportionately on mineral prices.

There have been two advances in mining technology I can think off (no doubt more).
The m2 mining laser was a good long while ago. This increased productivity.
Recently new cruiser technology has enabled considerable productivity enhancements for mining.
we are currently looking at near record high mineral prices (they were record highs 3 weeks ago).
Something else is driving mineral prices upwards while mining productivity is increasing. ******** AUTHOR of the COMPLETE mineral and ore Price guide, updated weekly, see Eve Guardian for details

My thoughts are that prices will shoot up straight after shiva as people will be getting used to interface and lose more ships, trying level 4 missions and losing ships and using cruise missle's/torps on level 4 missions all while mining will become more diverse, I don't think pos wil change anything todo with amount of 0.0 minng though as they are are pretty useless for refining ect.
