Dear Community!
Yesterday i killed a rat named "shadow serpentis" and it leaves same named wreck. After looting i tried to salvage but only something like this showed up "You cannot (or so) salvage "shadow serpentis wreck".
I wonder if its because of the gear (salvager I) or because of my poor salvaging skills (salvaging lvl1). Or may it have others?
Tried to google it out but nothing showed up. Can the community help?

You killed faction spawn, and to salvage its wreck you need salvaging 4 atleast, 5 in some cases AFAIK.

Actually... you only need salvaging lvl 3 for small faction wrecks.

actually that is wrong... advanced sleeper bs and abandoned talocan bs (spawn container) need salvaging 5 or 4 + rigs
if u don't know what u are talking about, just keep ya mouth shut

to tell the truth u need lvl 3 for most things in known space bar some cosmic sigs salvage sites witch reqire lvl 4 or 5 in wh space u need lvl 4 minimum to acomplish salvage and lvl 5 for advanced sleeper wreks although u can get the same result with lvl 4 and 3 salvage takle also im out of game atm but there is a salvage implant u can use to get a better chance of salvage i would name it if i could remember and get a pre determined salvage boat a destryer or bc works nice if u have spares put 4 tractor beams and 4 salvager and when u can afford 3 salvage takle to get the best out of it hope this helps

well thought they where talking about normal space (faction stuff does not appear in wormholes) But youre right! Salvage lvl 4 and 5 for high class wormholes

Actually, i think you can salvage, preety much everything if you have salvage lv4 and a salvage ship with salvage tackling rigs

QFT ^^^ 1 salvage tackle rig offers the same increase in salvaging chance as 2 levels of salvage skill.

Salvage tackles do not influence whether or not you CAN salvage a wreck, they reduce the average numbers of attempts to actually salvage a wreck only (i.e. you salvage faster).

??? Wait a minute. I thought Salvage rigs were completely useless besides a slight increase in salvage speed, that would be better achieved with a second salvager.

Despite what the descriptions says, if you do a show info on an equiped salvager I without rigs, it shows (5% * skill level). Put on a salvager II, and you get (7% * skill level). I had a 20% on my Golem at level 4, and at level 5 I had 25%. Once I swapped to a Salvager II, this shifted to 35%.

AFAIK every wreck has a "chance to salvage" percentage modifier. So if your base "chance to salvage" skills+rigs+implants number is negative once this modifier is applied you will not be able to salvage at all. If you don't get this message on more valuable wrecks it means you can salvage but you may only get a small chance of success per salvager cycle ie. 1 in 20 etc...
